Packers’ Micah Parsons Drops Major 5-Word Injury Announcement

Green Bay Packers pass-rusher Micah Parsons has been active on social media ever since he tore his ACL during a non-contact play against the Denver Broncos early this month.

And on Monday, December 29, Parsons made perhaps the most important post in the weeks since his injury.

Parsons, 26, took to his Instagram account and shared a photo of himself donning a hospital gown just before heading into his knee surgery.

“See ya’ll soon,” Parsons wrote. “Love ya’ll.”

Parsons spent a few weeks doing rehabilitation in preparation for the surgery, which generally has a recovery time of approximately nine months, assuming no major setbacks.

That timeline would put Parsons on track to potentially start for Green Bay in Week 1 of next season, though it could be a few games into the campaign before he’s ready to resume full-time football activities, including playing on Sundays.

Micah Parsons Provided Huge Boost to Packers Defense in First Season With Team

The injury was the first overtly and immediately serious health issue Parsons has faced during his five-year NFL career.

That career includes five Pro Bowl selections and three All-Pro selections, not to mention 138 quarterback hits, 75 tackles for loss, 65 sacks, 11 forced fumbles, 10 pass breakups and a defensive touchdown across 77 games played (76 starts).

Green Bay traded two first-round picks and three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kenny Clark to the Dallas Cowboys in August in return for Parsons. The Packers then signed the elite edge-rusher to a four-year contract extension worth $186 million that keeps him under contract through 2029.

Parsons proved well worth the investment through 14 appearances in 2025, tallying 26 QB hits, 12.5 sacks, 12 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and a defensed pass.

Packers Have Not Won Game Since Micah Parsons Went Down

As much as Parson’s production on the field indicated his importance to the Packers, his absence from it has been perhaps an even bigger statement of his value.

Green Bay fell to the Broncos by eight points following Parsons’s second-half injury in what was a highly competitive road contest for the Packers. The team subsequently lost to the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field and the Baltimore Ravens at Lambeau Field in Weeks 16 and 17, respectively.

Those two outcomes won’t keep the Packers out of the playoffs, as they have locked up the No. 7 seed as a wildcard and can rest their injured players in Week 18 against the Minnesota Vikings in Minneapolis, as the result of that game is of no consequence to Green Bay’s postseason.

However, the three consecutive losses the Packers have strung together guaranteed the Bears their first NFC North Division title since 2018. And backing into the playoffs on a losing streak has historically been a bad omen for teams hoping to make deep runs, as Green Bay clearly does heading into January.

Jordan Love’s Return From Injury Could Alter Packers’ Playoff Trajectory

The saving grace is perhaps that Jordan Love left the game in Chicago late in the first half with a concussion, which kept him out of last Saturday’s contest against the Ravens.

While backup Malik Willis has played well in Love’s stead, Love’s absence has clearly contributed to Green Bay’s inability to capture wins in either of its last two outings.

The Packers have the luxury of holding Love out for next Sunday’s game in Minnesota, which should leave him fresh and healthy for what will be a road contest in Round 1 of the playoffs against either the Bears or Philadelphia Eagles.

That said, three weeks will have passed since his injury by the time Love takes the field on Super Wildcard Weekend.
