The Micah Parsons era of the Green Bay Packers has begun, with the storied franchise winning its first games since the blockbuster trade with the Dallas Cowboys and looking like a legitimate Super Bowl title contender in the NFC.
Although Parsons almost certainly has the matchup with the Cowboys in Week 4 at AT&T Stadium circled on his calendar, the superstar linebacker is staying focused on his team’s Week 3 matchup with Joe Flacco and the Cleveland Browns.
Micah Parsons has One Thing on his Mind in Week 3
With the shocking Parsons trade still fresh in everyone’s mind, the 26-year-old continues to get questions about his former team, especially with his return to Dallas being right around the corner on Sept. 28. However, Parsons has learned how to deflect and keep his focus on the present and the team he’ll be facing.
When asked how he keeps his mind off the upcoming matchup with the Cowboys during media availability this week, the new leader on defense for the Packers admits he’s directed his attention to getting to Flacco on Sunday.
“Man, just really getting after Flacco,” Parsons said about his current mindset. “I kind of like the name ‘The Hunter’. I haven’t had Flacco yet. I need him. I want him. It’s time to go get him.
“I couldn’t be more excited. It’s just all about that QB right in front of me. I don’t want to look past him.”
There’s no doubt Parsons is likely drooling over the prospect of sacking former teammate Dak Prescott as many times as possible in Week 4, but he’s keeping his eyes on the prize while trying to improve his new team’s record to 3-0.
However, the one player who should be concerned right now is 40-year-old Flacco, who might be running for his life Sunday in Cleveland.
Packers Might be the NFC’s Elite Team
Heading into Week 3 against the Browns, the Packers are sporting a perfect 2-0 record while sitting atop the NFC North division standings. Green Bay has demonstrated the ability to get the job done on both sides of the football, and there’s a chance this team will only improve from week to week.
The Packers had some question marks coming into the 2025 campaign, with star quarterback Jordan Love playing with a surgically repaired thumb and no telling how Parsons would fit in Green Bay. Fortunately for the Packers, the team is playing at a high level, even with star wide receiver Jayden Reed being placed on injured reserve this week after undergoing two surgeries to fix a broken clavicle and a Jones fracture in his left foot and rookie wideout Matthew Golden struggling through his first two games.
Outside of the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles and potentially the division rival Detroit Lions, the Packers might have a clear path to going the distance this season if they can continue to play at a high level. The team is clicking with everyone seemingly on the same page, which is a scary sight for the rest of the NFC.
