Green Bay Packers seventh round pick Micah Robinson was re-signed to the practice squad after he was initially cut earlier this week. Robinson, a cornerback, was selected out of Tulane where he had a great senior season with two interceptions and 34 tackles. He played his first four collegiate seasons as a standout with Furman University.
Robinson will now officially start his rookie contract, paying him $1,078,460 annually for the next four seasons. He was also awarded a signing bonus of $113,840.
The Packers cornerback room on the 53-man roster will consist of Keisean Nixon, Kamal Hadden, Nate Hobbs, Bo Melton, Carrington Valentine and Javon Bullard.
Robinson’s College Career
Robinson played just one season with Tulane, but it was a good one at that, for both he and the Green Wave. Robinson’s success on the field helped Tulane reach the AAC Title game and qualified them for the Gasparilla Bowl behind a 9-5 record. Robinson was awarded a second team All-AAC Selection.
Robinson also played four seasons with FCS team Furman, where he played in 42 games and recorded five interceptions with 103 tackles.
Big Season for Young Packers
The Green Bay Packers have been steadily improving the past few years post Aaron Rodgers, and have now hit their prime window to compete with young phenom Jordan Love at QB. The Packers have the youngest average age in the NFL, an astounding 24.8, but now following a really good 11-6 record, this young team has some needed playoff experience.
Love is bound to enter his prime this season and he has all the young weapons around him that he needs with Jayden Reed, Romeo Doubs and rookie Matthew Golden as great WR targets. He also has one of the best running backs in the league by his side under center in Josh Jacobs.
