NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported the Green Bay Packers plan to hire Cam Achord to replace Rich Bisaccia as special teams coordinator.

The Green Bay Packers have found their Rich Bisaccia replacement.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported Friday afternoon the Packers plan to hire Cam Achord as their next special teams coordinator.

“Achord, 39, won Super Bowl LIII with the Patriots and most recently was the Giants‘ assistant special teams coach,” wrote Pelissero on X. “Now, he replaced Rich Bisaccia in Green Bay.”

This will be Achord’s first opportunity to be in charge of a special teams unit since the New England Patriots. He served as the Patriots special teams coordinator from 2020-23.

The past two seasons, he was the New York Giants assistant special teams coach. He held that role with the Patriots as well from 2018-19. New England won the Super Bowl during the 2018 campaign.

Achord will replace Bisaccia, who served as Packers special teams coordinator from 2022-25. Bisaccia announced on February 17 that he planned to step down from his role.

In 2026, Achord will be entering his ninth season coaching in the NFL. Of his first eight seasons, six of them were spent under Patriots head coach Bill Belichick.

Achord coaching special teams, though, dates back to 2010. His first role was as a special teams graduate assistant at Southern Miss from 2010-11.

Achord served as an offensive graduate assistant in 2012. He then fulfilled several roles at the same time while coaching at Southwest Mississippi Community College from 2013-17. Throughout that time, Achord was the program’s special teams coordinator.

He made the jump from community college to the Patriots under Belichick in 2018.

Packers Move on From Rich Bisaccia

Green Bay didn’t want to make a change at special teams coordinator. But the change could be a good thing.

At various points of Bisaccia’s tenure, the Packers struggled to find a consistent kicker. The unit also had a hard time with field goal protection.

In 2025, the Packers allowed a potential game-winning field goal to be blocked in Week 3. They also had an extra point blocked in a Week 4 tie.

During December, Bisaccia’s unit muffed an onside kick recovery attempt, which led to a loss to the Chicago Bears. That defeat helped cost the Packers the NFC North title.

Then in the postseason versus the Bears, the Packers missed two field goals and an extra point.

Bisaccia released a statement on why he was departing the team on February 17.

“After taking some time to reflect over the last few weeks, I have made the decision to step down as the assistant head coach and special teams coordinator of the Green Bay Packers,” Bisaccia said in a statement released by the team. “I am incredibly grateful to Matt LaFleur, Brian Gutekunst, Ed Policy and Mark Murphy for their unwavering trust and support throughout my time in Green Bay.

“I’m also thankful to the players for their consistent work and relentless effort to improve every single day. I would like to thank everyone in the organization for their dedication and commitment. The people in this building make it a special place to work.”

With the hiring of Achord, the Packers have filled their two coordinator vacancies this offseason. Green Bay hired Jonathan Gannon as its next defensive coordinator to replace Jeff Hafley.
