The Texans could add George Odum or Hudson Clark to their roster.

The Houston Texans have explored not one, but two players along the final line of defense in George Odum and Hudson Clark.

“#Texans worked out former #Colts #49ers @UCAAthletics  All-Pro special-teams ace George Odum (204 career tackles, three interceptions, 108 games, 12 starts, four forced fumbles) today, per a league sources, and former #Titans #Patriots @UFLStallions @RazorbackFB   safety Hudson Clark,” KPRC 2’s Aaron Wilson reported on X on August 23.

“Clark recently worked out for #Bills #Cardinals #Patriots.”

As the 49ers injury report gets more crowded, Tavarius Moore could make sense to replace George Odum.

The Texans are dealing with multiple injuries in their secondary. That has lead them to show interest in Odum, Clark, and cornerback Tre Hawkins.

Both Collin Wright and Ja’Marcus Ingram have been sidelined in practice after picking up injuries this preseason. That has left the Texans’ depth depleted. Ingram has played corner in his career but is listed at safety for the Texans.

Odum, 32, is a former undrafted free agent with 12 starts in 108 career games.

He was a First Team All-Pro with the Colts in 2020. Odum earned Second Team honors with the 49ers during the 2022 season.

Hudson Clark Has Intriguing Skill Set, Size Combination

Clark, 25, is a second-year former UDFA. He is also bigger at 6-foot-2. That could be an indication that the Texans are eyeing a replacement more for Ingram than for Wright, especially given the makeup of their depth options.

“Clark is an instinctive, intelligent, and position-versatile defensive back with prominent awareness, play diagnosis ability, and ball reactions to mitigate explosive plays from the opposition, NFL Draft Diamonds wrote in 2024, providing an encouraging snapshot of the young defender.

The Texans have options, but the implications of their actions loom large.

The start of the 2026 regular season and their opener against the Buffalo Bills is rapidly approaching amid their injury woes.
