The Indianapolis Colts are off to a 3-0 start in the 2025 season, but will be without one of their starting cornerbacks for the next few weeks.
Cornerback Kenny Moore suffered a calf injury in the Week 3 matchup against the Tennessee Titans and according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, he will be out a couple of weeks.
Losing Moore comes at a bad time, as Indy was without $54 million signing Charvarius Ward during Week 2, but was able to return in the third game of the season.
The cornerback group in training camp and preseason was riddled with injuries, including Moore. Indy lost third-year cornerback Jaylon Jones to a hamstring injury and was placed on injured reserve after the season opener.
The Indianapolis Colts added cornerback Xavien Howard before the start of training camp to address the injuries the team had suffered, but continue to face setbacks in the 2025 season.
To strengthen the cornerback position, the Colts added an eight-season veteran to the practice squad who can be elevated in Week 4.
Adding A Familiar Face

The Indianapolis Colts signed cornerback Mike Hilton, who last played for the Cincinnati Bengals, to the practice squad to address the issues in the secondary.
Hilton has familiarity with Indy’s defensive coordinator, Lou Anarumo, as he played under the DC the last four seasons in the AFC North
Hilton recorded 6 interceptions, 24 pass deflections, 283 tackles and 2 sacks playing under Anarumo in Cincy.
Adding the CB gives the Colts a player who understands the defensive scheme and can be elevated without difficulty from the P-squad.
Colts head coach Shane Steichen said he doesn’t have a timetable for Kenny Moore’s return and will continue to monitor the situation.
With how Moore’s recovery process goes, Hilton could expect a high number of snaps in his stint with the organization.
Mike Hilton In Indianapolis

Mike Hilton will have a lot of eyes on him as he is set to step in for 2021 Pro Bowl cornerback Kenny Moore.
Steichen was asked after the Titans‘ game if Moore would be put on IR, saying, “No. Not right now.”
The new Colt cornerback has not played in the 2025 season and will need to get back into football shape before being elevated from the practice squad.
If Hilton were to be a long-term replacement for Indy, he would need to exceed the expectations that would be given to him after the team’s 3-0 start to the season.
The former Bengals cornerback has missed 4 games during his time with Anarumo in Cincy and is a healthy option for Indianapolis moving forward.
If Moore and Jones were to return to the squad after healing quicker than expected, Hilton could find himself out of the team.
