Colts QB Daniel Jones Makes Bold Claim After Win vs. Broncos

The Indianapolis Colts are off to their first 2-0 start since 2009, and quarterback Daniel Jones is at the center of it.

After Sunday’s wild win over the Denver Broncos, Jones made a statement about the Colts’ ability to measure up against anyone.

“We were confident we’d stack up well,” Jones said postgame. “It’s a good defense, a good secondary, and a good front. But we trusted our guys in those matchups, and they delivered.”

Confidence in the Offense

The ending was chaotic, with a penalty giving Indianapolis new life after a missed kick.

Rookie Spencer Shrader handled the pressure with a clutch game winner, and Jones credited both the protection up front and Alec Pierce’s late separation on a key route.

Jones admitted he hasn’t often been in an ending quite like that, but he emphasized how the Colts handled adversity:

“In a game like that, you’re going to have some good, some bad. You just keep going, play the next play, and we won a lot of those situations today.”

Jones has thrown for over 60 points worth of offense in the first two weeks, but he was quick to point out the red zone execution still needs work.

“A lot of that’s on me,” Jones said. “I’ve got to hit the open guy, recognize looks and pressures, and make sure we’re in the right play. You only get so many shots down there, you’ve got to convert.”

Still, he noted the collective energy around the group is different:

“I feel confident. There’s a great energy about our team, about our offense. We’re executing at a high level, but we know we’re still growing and developing.”

Overcoming Doubts and Proving It

Jones arrived in Indianapolis with plenty of questions surrounding his future, battling in a tight quarterback competition.

Asked if the early success feels personally rewarding, he acknowledged the outside noise but kept the focus on the long haul.

“Yeah, maybe a little bit,” Jones admitted. “You know what the narrative is. But one game, two games don’t make a season. It’s a long season, and you’ve got to sustain it.”

That mindset has resonated with the locker room. Safety Camryn Bynum’s late interception set up the win, Jonathan Taylor piled up over 200 total yards, and the Colts proved they could win in multiple ways in back to back weeks.

The Colts 2-0 start brings both excitement and perspective. Jones acknowledged the boost in confidence but insisted the focus shifts quickly to the next challenge.

“We’ve got to keep building,” he said. “Last week we got right back to work, and this week will be the same. It’s a divisional game against Tennessee, we’ll have to bring our best.”

For now, Indianapolis can enjoy a hot start it hasn’t seen in over a decade, with Jones not only steadying the ship but sending a clear message: the Colts believe they can compete with anyone.
