The season for the Jacksonville Jaguars came to a devastating close on Sunday afternoon against the Buffalo Bills in the NFL Wild Card Round postseason game in Jacksonville, a 27-24 final score at EverBank Stadium that brought an end to what was a 13-win regular season campaign for the Jaguars.
Bills quarterback Josh Allen played the role of hero for Buffalo, connecting with Brandin Cooks on a 38-yard throw which was followed by a one-yard touchdown run to put his club ahead for good; he finished the contest by completing 28 of 35 passes for 273 yards and a touchdown.
And while Allen and the Bills now wait and see whether they’ll be playing the Denver Broncos or New England Patriots, quarterback Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars are once again left dealing with disappointment over a season that began with promise ending far too early.

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence Admitted It Was A Tough Way To Lose
Lawrence, who turned the ball over twice as part of the loss, admitted that it was a tough way for their 13-win season to come to a close against a weaker than normal Bills club.
“A tough way to end this year,” Lawrence said afterward. “It’s hard to describe and put the right words to it just because there’s so much work that’s put into any season.”
Lawrence ultimately finished the game going 18 of 30 passes for 207 yards and three touchdowns, but he also threw a pair of costly interceptions.
“That’s kind of their (modus operandi) of their defense,” Lawrence said of how the Bill played. “They want to play a shell, top-down defense and not give up big plays. We weren’t good enough taking some underneath throws early to keep us in manageable (situations) and got behind the chains a couple of times.”

Trevor Lawrence Believes The Jaguars Can Run It Back
It’s a disappointing feeling for Lawrence and the Jaguars right now, but Lawrence expressed optimism that he and his team can enjoy sustainable success under head coach Liam Cohen, who was hired in January of last year and led the team to 13 wins in his inaugural season on the job.
“I have so much confidence in this group and the staff and the direction we’re heading, but that doesn’t make you feel better about the season ending today when we feel like there was more out there for us,” Lawrence said.
While Lawrence knows that success is in now way guaranteed, he feels that they can earn their way back and enjoy a better result next time around.
“… There’s no guaranteed success, but I do feel like this is sustainable, the things that we’re doing,” he said. “I know offensively and defensively, both sides of the ball had a hell of a year when it got down to the end, where we finished, and the growth that we had. … But you have to earn it every year. It’s not just going to happen.”
During the recently completed 2025 season, Lawrence established a new career-high with 38 touchdown throws and also posted his third 4,000-yard passing season.
