The Kansas City Chiefs are 2-2 on the season after a statement 37-20 win over Baltimore Ravens in Week 4.
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes played a huge role in the team’s success, completing 25-of-37 passes for 270 yards, four touchdowns, and zero interceptions. Mahomes also made NFL history after becoming both the youngest and fastest quarterback to record 250 passing touchdowns.
While Mahomes has a lot to celebrate on his day off, he was locked into the Monday Night Football match between the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets. During the third quarter, with Miami up 10-3, Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa connected with wide receiver Tyreek Hill on a third down.
After Hill caught the ball, he fell awkwardly and suffered what appeared to be a gruesome leg injury. The five-time First-Team All-Pro smiled as he was carted off the field, but his future looks grim.
ESPN sideline reporter Katie George revealed during the broadcast that trainers “cut off his cleats and the tape surrounding his ankle to get it into a stabilizer.”
The Dolphins confirmed on X that Hill was done for the night. “He is being taken to a local hospital for imaging, evaluation and observation,” the team posted. Before exiting the game, Hill recorded six catches for 67 yards against the Jets.
Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes Sent Prayers To Tyreek Hill, His Former No. 1 Wide Receiver
At age 31, one has to wonder if this isn’t just a season-ending injury for Hill, but a career-ending knee injury. Mahomes posted on X immediately after Hill went down, “Prayers up man….. 🙏🏽🙏🏽.”

Hill started his NFL career in Kansas City. The Chiefs drafted the West Alabama alum in the 5th round of the 2016 NFL draft. He won his first and only championship ring alongside Mahomes after the Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV.
The Chiefs traded Hill to the Dolphins in a blockbuster deal ahead of the 2022 NFL season. The Chiefs received five draft picks: a 2022 first-round pick (No. 29), second-round pick (No. 50), and fourth-round pick, plus a fourth and sixth-round pick in the 2023 draft.
Rumors Swirled Over Tyreek Hill Returning To The Chiefs Earlier This Season

Following Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice’s six-game suspension and Xavier Worthy going down in Week 1, the idea of Hill possibly returning to Kansas City started to circulate.
With Hill looking to get another Super Bowl ring before he retires, Pro Football Talk’s Michael Florio believed there could be a reunion.
“For now, there are two teams to watch,” Florio wrote on September 8. First, the Chiefs. For obvious reasons. Hill starred in Kansas City until his desire for more money (and perhaps to not be in the shadow of Patrick Mahomes and/or Travis Kelce) sparked a trade.
During his apology tour in advance of Super Bowl LIX, Hill admitted on PFT Live that he sometimes regrets leaving the Chiefs. And the Chiefs could use him, before and after Rashee Rice returns from his six-game suspension.
Throughout the first three weeks of the 2025 NFL season, Hill registered 15 catches for 198 yards and one touchdown.
