The Kansas City Chiefs are already seeing their Super Bowl odds improve after making major offseason moves that reshape the team’s offense.
Following the signing of running back Kenneth Walker III and the decision by veteran tight end Travis Kelce to return for another season, sportsbooks have adjusted Kansas City’s outlook for the 2026 NFL season.
At DraftKings Sportsbook, the Chiefs now hold +1400 odds to win the Super Bowl, tied with the Philadelphia Eagles for the fifth-best odds in the league. Earlier this offseason, Kansas City sat at +1500.
Only two AFC teams — the Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens — currently have better Super Bowl odds at +950.
The shift in odds reflects renewed optimism about the Chiefs as they attempt to rebound from a disappointing 6-11 season that ended their playoff streak for the first time since 2014.
Kansas City Chiefs Sign Kenneth Walker III to Strengthen Offense
Kansas City made one of the biggest free agency moves of the offseason by signing former Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III.
According to NFL Network senior insider Ian Rapoport, Walker agreed to a three-year contract worth $45 million. The deal includes $28.7 million guaranteed and carries an average annual salary of $14.35 million.
Walker later confirmed the news with celebratory posts on his personal social media pages.
The move addresses a major weakness from the 2025 season when Kansas City’s rushing attack ranked among the least productive in the league.
Walker arrives in Kansas City after producing another strong season in Seattle. Despite sharing carries with Zach Charbonnet, he rushed for 1,027 yards and five touchdowns.
He also delivered standout performances in the postseason. Walker rushed for 313 yards and four touchdowns across three playoff games, including a 135-yard performance against New England in Super Bowl LX.
The running back has recorded two 1,000-yard seasons in his first four NFL campaigns. In another season, he rushed for 905 yards despite appearing in only 15 games.
Kansas City’s front office made the signing shortly after executing another major move by trading All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for several draft picks.
Travis Kelce Returning for 14th Season With Chiefs
Along with adding Walker, the Chiefs received confirmation that Kelce will continue his career in Kansas City.
According to ESPN, Kelce informed the organization that he plans to return for a 14th NFL season rather than retire or explore other opportunities in free agency.
Kelce has spent his entire career with the Chiefs and has become one of the most accomplished tight ends in NFL history.
Chiefs general manager Brett Veach recently said the organization hoped Kelce would return for another season.
“Travis is the best,” Veach said at the NFL combine. “He’s an icon, and hopefully he comes back. We’ll just kind of let that process play out.”
Veach acknowledged that Kelce’s situation differs from most players entering free agency.
“It’s not your typical 27-year-old [and] first time at free agency,” Veach said. “Travis has done everything and has accomplished everything.”
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid also confirmed that communication between the team and Kelce remained strong.
“There is communication,” Reid said with a smile. “That’s the main thing. I’ve said this before: As long as there’s communication, I’m good. That means people want to move forward.”
Even at age 36, Kelce remained Kansas City’s most productive receiver last season. He led the team in targets, receptions, receiving yards, touchdowns, and receiving first downs.
Kelce finished the season with 108 targets, 76 receptions, 851 receiving yards, five touchdowns, and 45 receiving first downs.
