Taylor Swift proved once again on Monday that her career momentum slows for nothing and no one. Not even her fast-approaching wedding to legendary Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. While the superstar couple have not yet confirmed a date for the wedding, most rumors and reports peg the big day as June 13. But Swift just made a major career announcement for a day remarkably close to the rumored wedding date.
Swift’s latest album, The Life of a Showgirl, released last October quickly became a chart phenomenon and remains strong almost six months later. On Monday, the latest release of Apple Music’s worldwide iTunes chart showed the two singles that Swift has so far released from the album still in the global Top 10, according to iTunes figures.
The first single, “The Fate of Ophelia,” ranked at No. 1 on Monday, while the second release from Showgirl, “Opalite,” sits at No. 8.
On Monday, Swift announced a release date for a third single from the album — this time in a special 7-inch vinyl edition. The song is already available through streaming services.
When Will the Next Taylor Swift Single Be Released?
Billboard Magazine reported the details of Swift’s announcement on Monday — a colored vinyl release of the third track on Life of a Showgirl, her song “Elizabeth Taylor.”
“Taylor Swift has always been a big supporter of Record Store Day, and 2026 is no exception,” the longtime music industry “bible” reported. “The exclusive 7-inch record will feature “Elizabeth Taylor” — the third track on Swift’s 2025 Billboard 200-topping album — isolated as a single away from the rest of the LP, pressed onto a galactic purple-and-blue vinyl.”
Record Store Day falls this year on April 18 — just under two months out from the rumored June 13 Swift-Kelce wedding date.
“So far, both ‘The Fate of Ophelia’ and ‘Opalite’ from the LP have topped the Billboard Hot 100, while ‘Elizabeth Taylor’ debuted at No. 3 on the tally,” Billboard reported.
Who Was Elizabeth Taylor in Real Life?
Why is Swift’s song called “Elizabeth Taylor?” It is, of course, possible that many of Swift’s younger fans are not familiar with Taylor, who was once the world’s biggest movie star because she died in 2011 at the age of 79.
Taylor started her multi-decade film career as a child star, making her first appearance in a motion picture in 1942. The following year she starred in Lassie Come Home for MGM Studios, which immediately signed her to a full-year contract. She starred in numerous Hollywood films throughout the 1950s, earning two Oscar nominations and finally winning one for her role in Butterfield 8 in 1960.
But Taylor was just as well-known for her off-screen love life. She married eight times to seven different husbands, including twice to Welsh actor Richard Burton, whom she often described as the great love of her life.
Kelce Inspired Swift to Write the ‘Elizabeth Taylor’ Song
While Swift’s career continues relentlessly despite her impending marriage, Kelce has begun to play an indispensable role in her astonishing success. According to Swift herself, it was a conversation with her NFL star fiancé that inspired her to write a song about Elizabeth Taylor, People magazine reported.
She had seen a “flattering” quote about herself from the late movie star’s son, and she and Kelce began discussing it during a car ride. Swift became so inspired by the topic, she had Kelce stop the car so she could get out and sing a melody for the song into her phone. Now, just two months before the reported date of her wedding to Kelce, that conversation will result in the vinyl pressing of her “Elizabeth Taylor” single.
