Travis Kelce has done it yet again.

The Kansas City Chiefs‘ future Hall of Fame tight end added another franchise record to his impressive NFL resumé on Sunday, November 16. By catching a touchdown pass from quarterback Patrick Mahomes in the fourth quarter of a tight and crucial game against the Denver Broncos, Kelce became the team’s all-time touchdown leader.

Kansas City announced the historic news via its official X account.

“The best TE ever just keeps getting better,” the Chiefs wrote. “Congrats, [Travis Kelce] on securing the most touchdowns in franchise history.”

Kelce surpassed running back Priest Holmes, the previous record holder with 83 total touchdowns. In third place is now tight end Tony Gonzalez, who finished his career with 76 TDs.

Kelce, now 36 years old, is playing in the final year of his contract with Kansas City in 2025. It is unclear what his plans are for the future, though several analysts have speculated that this season, Kelce’s 13th in the league, may be his last.

He has won three Super Bowl rings as a member of the Chiefs. He has earned 10 Pro Bowl nods and made an All-Pro team (first or second) seven times.

Kelce entered the game against the Broncos with 1,045 receptions, 12,691 receiving yards and 80 receiving TDs. He also boasts two rushing TDs and 15 ground yards on nine career carries.

Kelce finished the day with nine catches for 91 yards and a score in a game the Chiefs ultimately lost by three points.

Kansas City isn’t a lock to lose the division for the first time in a decade, but Denver clearly controls the AFC West with a 9-2 record. The Chiefs fell to 5-5 on the season and host the Indianapolis Colts next Sunday. Kansas City and Denver won’t meet again until a Christmas Day game in Week 17, at which point the division may already be decided.

The Chiefs went up 19-16 on the strength of Kelce’s record-breaking touchdown, but failed to convert the extra point. Denver finished off the game with two field goals, winning 22-19.

Mahomes threw a costly interception early in the third quarter with the football marked on the Broncos’ 21-yard line. Considering the difference in the game was three points, Mahomes spoke candidly after the game about how serious that mistake truly was.

“I was rolling out to the right, but you just can’t do it. I’ll have to look at the film. I thought I had Elijah coming down the sideline. I was going to give him a chance, and I just didn’t throw it high enough at the end of the day,” Mahomes said. “I’ve made that throw before, but at the same time, with the type of football game we’re in, don’t put the ball in harm’s way. Take the three points and move on to the next possession.”
