A miserable season for the Las Vegas Raiders is nearly over. The team hosts the Kansas City Chiefs for one last game of the 2025 regular season.
No matter how that game ends, the best the Raiders can do is tie for the worst record in the NFL. However, that’s not stopping them from making roster moves. Las Vegas announced on Tuesday that defensive back Brandon Hill has been signed to the practice squad.
Hill was a seventh-round pick of the Houston Texans in 2023, and has been able to stay in their program for the past three seasons. He was recently released, which opened up the opportunity for the Raiders to sign him.
Hill has only played two games during his NFL career, so there isn’t much tape to go off of. Notably, he played his college ball at Pittsburgh and was a teammate of Raiders quarterback Kenny Pickett. Hill is fast for a safety, as he ran a 4.43 40-yard dash before the draft.
It’s unlikely he’ll get a chance to play in the Raiders’ finale, but this will give him a good shot to get a Reserve/Future contract from the team once the season ends.
Raiders Need Players to Step Up Amid Injury Issues
The Raiders have started to err on the cautious side when it comes to injuries. There’s only one game left, so it’s hard to imagine the team pushing any banged-up veterans to play agains thte Chiefs.
Head coach Pete Carroll is hoping to see healthy players step up.
“We’ll just try to continue to make it as competitive in all spots as we can possibly make it,” Carroll told reporters Monday. “And our guys have taken to the mentality. They know when I say stuff like that, they know what I’m talking about, and they have to rise up every day and battle against each other and try to see who can win and who’s going to get on the highlights the next day in the meetings and all that. That’s the foundation of it. It’s where you’re coming from, and we’re coming to compete to be as good as we can possibly be.”
Raiders Want to Have Fun in Week 18
It has been far from a fun season for anybody involved with the Raiders. The team hasn’t won a game in months, and the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft is the only thing to potentially look forward to.
Carroll might last that long, so he’s just hoping to have some fun in Week 18 and end the season on a high note.
“I’d like to have fun playing football, practice with a lot of energy, get ready for a game. We’re playing Kansas City,” Carroll said. “They won the freaking division for 10 years straight or whatever it is. It’ll be fun to play them. Fun to go against Andy [Reid], to me. And so, there’s no reason for us to think about anything other than playing ball. From the locker room, that’s what I said to them afterward, that we got one week to do something special. Let’s make sure that we do everything we can to create that, and we’ll see what happens.”
