The Las Vegas Raiders‘ head coaching options continue to thin with Joe Brady taking the Buffalo Bills job and Mike McDaniel signing a contract to be the Los Angeles Chargers’ offensive coordinator. However, they might have a favorite candidate who is still available.

Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak cemented himself as a top head coaching candidate when his offense scored 31 points against the Los Angeles Rams to advance to the Super Bowl.

Kubiak is now hard at work getting a gameplan together for the most important game of his life, but that’s not going to stop the Raiders from pursuing him. The team already conducted a virtual interview with him, so they can meet with him again before the Super Bowl.

According to SNY’s Connor Hughes, Kubiak is currently considered the frontrunner for the Raiders head coaching job.

Minority owner Tom Brady called the NFC Championship game for FOX, so he got an up-close look at Kubiak’s playcalling ability. It’s easy to see why the Raiders would be favoring him. The team is likely to take Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza with the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, so they seem to be favoring an offensive-minded head coach. Kubiak is arguably the best offensive mind available this offseason.

Davis Webb & Brian Daboll Still in the Mix

The Raiders likely need some sort of verbal commitment from Kubiak in the coming days if he’s going to be the head coach. Las Vegas isn’t going to want to wait two more weeks to hire a coach who doesn’t want to be there.

If the search continues into next week, it likely means the Raiders are expecting to hire Kubiak. For now, there are still two other candidates in the mix: Former New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll and Denver Broncos quarterbacks coach Davis Webb.

Daboll is now expected to be the offensive coordinator of the Tennessee Titans, but according to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, the Raiders haven’t decided on who their head coach will be, and Daboll is still in the mix.

Webb has been considered one of the favorites for the job for a few weeks now and just interviewed with the team in person. If he’s going to be the head coach, that news should drop very soon.

Does Kubiak Want the Raiders?

Kubiak has now proven that he’s a top offensive playcaller in the NFL. Teams are desperate to hire great offensive minds as head coaches, so Kubiak will almost certainly be in the mix for head coaching jobs next offseason if he chooses to stay in Seattle.

If he doesn’t feel like he’s ready or there isn’t the right fit, he could be patient the same way Ben Johnson was before landing on the Chicago Bears.

The biggest selling point the Raiders have for Kubiak is the No. 1 pick. Mendoza fits what Kubiak likes to do on offense perfectly. If the team is able to land the star coordinator, they likely have Mendoza to thank for that.
