Ex-Raider Petitions for Another Chance: ‘I Would Leave My Entire Family’

The Las Vegas Raiders have had thousands of players on the roster over the history of the franchise. Despite there being some alumni, the team continues to make it a point to take care of any player who has worn the Silver and Black.

One thing they’ve done to keep former players engaged with the franchise has been to send them commemorative bricks with their names, numbers and a Raiders logo. Former defensive end Isaac Rochell played with the team in 2022 and 2023, and he just received his own brick.

However, the gift reminded him that the Raiders had decided to cut him right before his daughter was born. Rochell jokingly said in a video posted on TikTok that he has “beef” with the team, but also made it crystal clear that he’d love another chance to play for the team.

“I’m in my era of forgiveness, so I wanted to showcase something that they sent me,” Rochell said in the video. “Would’ve much rather had a, “Hey, come to training camp, hey, come to OTAs.’ I would leave my entire family in a second. … I would leave everybody in a second to go play for the Las Vegas Raiders.”

Does Rochell Have a Chance to Return to Raiders?

Rochell has played 78 games in his career, so he’s got a lot of experience. He originally came into the NFL as a seventh-round pick of the Los Angeles Chargers and bounced around the league before landing with the Raiders.

He’s been out of the NFL for three years now, so his prospects aren’t looking great. He’s also 31, which means he’s likely on the backend of his athletic prime. If the Raiders find that they need more training camp bodies, bringing back Rochell could make some sense. He worked with new defensive coordinator Rob Leonard when he was with the team. That said, it could be a long shot that he actually gets a chance if he’s serious about wanting to return.

Jonah Laulu Named Offseason Winner

Defensive tackle was thought to be one of the biggest needs for the Raiders this offseason, but the team ended up not doing much to address the position in free agency or the draft.

This means the Raiders must have confidence in who they already have on the roster. Arguably, the team’s best defensive tackle in 2025 was Jonah Laulu, who was tied for third on the team with 4.0 sacks.

He’s set to return to Las Vegas and should have an even bigger role. The Athletic’s Sam Warren named Laulu as one of the biggest winners from the Raiders’ offseason.

“That bodes well for Laulu, who had a breakout year in 2025,” Warren wrote. “The former undrafted free agent had four sacks and 51 combined tackles, most of any Raiders pass rusher not named Maxx Crosby. Laulu should get an opportunity to continue his ascension as he’ll play a big role in Rob Leonard’s defense, which relies on interior pressure.”

Laulu taking his game to another level this season would be big for the Raiders.
