As the search for the next head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders continues, fans are starting to get a better idea of who Las Vegas will potentially hire.
“The Raiders are believed to be focusing on an offensive-minded to pair with the likely No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza alongside weapons like Brock Bowers and Ashton Jeanty,” NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported on January 21st. “I’ve heard a lot of Klint Kubiak and Davis Webb mentioned here…within league circles, the belief is that this will ultimately be an offensive hire.”
That said, some discouraging news has surfaced regarding who is believed to be one of the Raiders’ top targets in Kubiak.
Raiders Get Some Bad News on Klint Kubiak
Kubiak, who has engineered the Seahawks’ offense to a 14-3 regular season record and an NFC Championship appearance, might not be an option.
According to NFL insider Tony Pauline, sources are telling him that Seattle is planning to put on a “full-court press” to keep Kubiak on the staff.
“Could Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak pull a Ben Johnson and rebuff head coaching offers to stay with his current team? It’s not out of the question, sources here in Frisco say,” Pauline wrote. “Kubiak is also a leading candidate for the Las Vegas job, and the Raiders are expected to select their quarterback, Fernando Mendoza, with the first pick in this April’s draft. At the same time, multiple sources tell me that the Seahawks are putting on a full-court press to keep Kubiak on staff. It’s an interesting dynamic that could take a while to play out, depending on whether or not the Seahawks’ season continues past today.”
It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out.
Johnson, who had multiple chances to leave to become a head coach, opted to stay in Detroit with the Lions until the right opportunity came in Chicago with the Bears. This would be different regarding Kubiak’s situation, because it’s the organization that wants him to stay put, not Kubiak himself.
Maybe the Raiders could find a way to hire Kubiak, besides Seattle’s efforts to keep him on the staff. If not, there’s another candidate that’s starting to emerge as the favorite to land the Raiders head coaching gig.
If Not Kubiak, Then Davis Webb?

GettyPassing game coordinator/quarterbacks coach Davis Webb of the Denver Broncos looks on against the New Orleans Saints.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Sunday that the Raiders are expected to meet with Broncos passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach, Davis Webb, regarding their head coach vacancy.
Schefter also mentioned how the Buffalo Bills want to meet with Davis, but because of NFL rules, they have to wait until the Broncos’ season is over, which gives the Raiders an advantage.
Here’s more on Webb from the Raiders’ website:
“Webb is a former quarterback who transitioned into coaching after a six-year playing career with the Giants, Jets and Bills. He joined the Broncos staff in 2023 and spent two seasons as quarterbacks coach before being promoted to offensive pass game coordinator in 2025. Webb oversaw the development of rookie quarterback Bo Nix in 2024, helping him set franchise rookie records after completing 376-of-567 passes (66.3%) for 3,775 yards with 29 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.”
There’s some traction with Webb and the Raiders, and if Kubiak isn’t an option, then Webb might have the golden ticket to become the Raiders’ next head coach.
