Maxx Crosby didn’t pass his physical with the Baltimore Ravens nixing the trade with the Las Vegas Raiders. As a result, Crosby is back with the Silver and Black, but the question is, should general manager John Spytek hang up the phone on any trade talks regarding the pass rusher?
Perhaps the Raiders might not get two first-round picks like they initially received from the Ravens before the failed physical. However, if a team were to offer a first-round pick plus a Day 2 pick, would that be enough for them to make another Crosby trade?
For former NFL executive Mike Tannenbaum, the answer is that the Raiders should remain open to trading Crosby again this offseason.
“Yeah, absolutely [Spytek should be taking calls on Crosby],” Tannenbaum said on the March 13 edition of “Get Up.” “Because by the time Fernando Mendoza is going to be good, Maxx Crosby may be two or three years further down the road.”
Two Teams Should Be Calling for Maxx Crosby
Moreover, Tannenbaum laid out two teams that should be calling the Raiders leading up to the 2026 NFL Draft: The Buffalo Bills and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He also spotlighted the potential trade package these two teams could offer Las Vegas to entice Spytek to trade Crosby again.
“The Bills [and] Buccaneers should trade a second-round pick for him this year. No physical, by the way, and then next year you get a second-round pick, but if he plays 70 percent or more of the snaps this season, that two goes to a one. Who says no to that? If you’re Buffalo or Tampa, you may get a great pass rusher for two [second-round picks]. And if you’re the Raiders, it’s not two ones, but it could be a second-round pick and a first-round pick, and you’re cutting your losses.
“I’ll tell you this, guys. Just from a team-building standpoint, not knowing if you have $30 million on your books is hugely consequential. That’s 10 percent of your budget. If I’m John Spytek [or] if I’m Klint Kubiak, I want to know ASAP: Is he in or out? And that’s why, if you make a trade with these sorts of conditions where you’re protecting the Raiders’ upside if he plays, I think that is a fair resolution.”
Raiders Reportedly Have No Plans to Trade Maxx Crosby
While Tannenbaum is urging the Raiders to continue taking calls for Crosby, the team is reportedly taking the opposition approach.
On March 12, NBC Sports’ Mike Florio reported, citing a league source, that the Raiders are telling teams that Crosby will not be traded after an earlier attempt to move Crosby to the Ravens for two first-round picks fell through.
According to Florio, the Raiders never intended to deal Crosby in the first place. Crosby was the one pushing for a move. With Crosby now back and publicly recommitting to Las Vegas, the team plans to keep Crosby moving forward.
It will be interesting to see whether the trade rumors involving Crosby die down as the NFL Draft approaches, or if they continue to emerge in March and April.
