Tom Brady may be wearing two hats after his playing days, but for now, his attention is clearly split; Leading Fox’s No. 1 broadcasting crew and helping the Las Vegas Raiders as a minority owner.
Following the Raiders’ decision to part ways with head coach Pete Carroll, the organization made it clear that Brady would play a role in shaping the franchise’s future. In the official announcement, the Raiders stated that General Manager John Spytek would “lead all football operations in close collaboration with Tom Brady, including the search for the club’s next head coach.”
However, Brady’s current priority remains his role in the broadcast booth.
“My preparation is very much centered around what I have to do in broadcasting,” Brady told The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand. “I love, obviously, having a chance to be involved with the Raiders. To be a former player and have a minority ownership is like a dream come true.”
Broadcasting First, Raiders Second…For Now
Brady’s first season as Fox’s lead NFL analyst has demanded intense preparation, mirroring the obsessive detail he was known for as a player. According to The Athletic, Brady approaches each broadcast as if he’s still suiting up for an NFL game, studying matchups, building game plans, and leading detailed Saturday night meetings with the entire Fox crew.
“I’m not into generic thoughts,” Brady said. “There is a nuance to every game. There is a strategy matchup to every game.”
Brady’s Fox obligations conclude after the NFC Championship Game between the Los Angeles Rams and the Seattle Seahawks, which will free up more time for Raiders-related matters. Still, with broadcasting contracts potentially paving the way for other ownership ambitions, it’s unlikely Brady will step away from television anytime soon.
Why Tom Brady’s Voice Still Carries Weight in Las Vegas
Despite openly acknowledging that broadcasting is his current focus, Brady’s influence inside the Raiders’ organization should not be underestimated.
Even as a minority owner, Brady remains deeply involved in high-level football discussions, especially as the Raiders continue to look for their next head coach.
The Raiders may not need Brady in the building every day for his impact to be felt. His role is more strategic than operational, offering vision, perspective, and accountability at the top of the organization. While some critics have raised some concern about the way in which Brady is allowed to be both a TV broadcaster and a minority owner for an NFL team, neither the NFL nor Fox has taken issue with the arrangement.
For now, Brady will continue to walk the line between the booth and the Raiders’ building. And while his focus may lean towards Fox, there’s no doubt he has a long-term commitment to the Raiders in shaping their future.
