The Tennessee Titans were the first team in the NFL to part ways with their head coach this season, deciding to move forward without Brian Callahan after Week 6, in which they started the season 1-5.
During in tenure with Tennessee, Callahan has accrued a 4-19 overall record. Now, it will be a new era for the Titans as they look for their next head coach.
The Titans’ head coaching job could be desirable due to a young, promising quarterback in Cam Ward and resources for the 2026 offseason. Tennessee is set to have almost $100 million in cap space and will have 9 selections in the 2026 NFL Draft, including the 4th overall pick.
Tennessee has already begun the interview process and continues to request more. An NFL insider recently revealed that the Titans have requested to interview a Super Bowl-winning coach.

The Tennessee Titans have made numerous requests and are now looking at a Super Bowl-winning position coach to help the team in the right direction.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport revealed on social media that the Titans have requested to interview Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Chris Shula for their empty head coaching role.
Shula is one of the longest-tenured members of the Rams coaching staff, having been hired by head coach Sean McVay since he took the helm of the franchise.
The defensive coordinator held numerous roles within the organization, initially joining as an assistant linebackers coach in 2017. Having also held the defensive back coach, pass game and pass rush coordinator spots before being promoted to DC in 2024 after the departure of Raheem Morris.
Shula was part of the coaching staff that won Super LVI against the Cincinnati Bengals back in the 2021-22 season.
Despite having some injuries across the board, the Rams defense is allowing 20.4 points per game this season, the 10th-fewest in the league.
Pro Football Focus graded the Rams as the best run defensive unit in the league this season.
EDGE rushers Jared Verse and Byron Young received Pro Bowl honors, which is also Verse’s second Pro Bowl nod.
McVay has mentioned that he would be surprised if Shula didn’t receive any interview requests for a head coaching position. Now, there is some traction that the long-time Rams coach will be leaving Los Angeles.
Reuniting With A Familiar Face

If Chris Shula were to land the Tennessee Titans head coaching job, or with another team, the Rams could have an immediate replacement for him.
Los Angeles could bring back Shula’s predecessor, Raheem Morris, who left the Rams to become the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons.
Morris has been released from his duties in Atlanta and could find his way back to the City of Angels after having two back-to-back seasons of 8-9 records.
The former head coach was the defensive coordinator when the Rams won the Super Bowl in the 2021-22 season and could reimplement his defensive scheme.
It would also bring Sean McVay some comfort in bringing in someone he trusts to run the defense.
