The Miami Dolphins have had an interesting all-around NFL offseason to this point.
After cleaning house in the front office and at head coach, the Dolphins went out and brought in two names from the Green Bay Packers. They hired Jon-Eric Sullivan to be their new general manager and Jeff Hafley to be their new head coach.
In free agency, Miami went out and signed former Green Bay Packers quarterback Malik Willis to a lucrative three-year, $67.5 million contract. The team has been aggressive in bringing in pieces from a very successful franchise.
According to a new report, the Dolphins might very well be trying to acquire another player from the Packers.
Miami Dolphins Reportedly Discussing Trade With the Packers
Easton Butler of Packer Report has reported that Green Bay is discussing trades with other teams regarding wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks. Miami was one of the teams mentioned.
“Teams have been calling the Packers about WR Dontayvion Wicks again,” Butler wrote on X. “Some teams include the Bills, Raiders, Dolphins and Jets. Several others are calling, but these 4 have been the most prominent.”
The Packers currently have a very talented young wide receiver room. While they lost Romeo Doubs earlier this season, they still have Christian Watson, Jayden Reed, Matthew Golden, Wicks, and Savion Williams. Trading one of them could be an option.
For the Dolphins, the need is very clear at the wide receiver position. Jaylen Waddle was recently traded to the Denver Broncos. Miami has to bring in weapons for Willis to throw to.
What Would Dontayvion Wicks Bring to the Dolphins?
First and foremost, Willis and Wicks already have chemistry together from the last two years in Green Bay. Adding a familiar target would certainly be helpful for the Dolphins’ new starting quarterback.
Last season with the Packers, Wicks played in 14 games. He caught 30 passes for 332 yards and two touchdowns.
Throughout his entire three-year NFL career, the 24-year-old wideout has totaled 108 receptions for 1,328 yards and 11 touchdowns in 46 games.
Wicks has big-time talent and potential. He has not had the kind of role to showcase all of that potential yet, but Miami could offer him exactly that kind of playing time. It could be a match made in heaven for both parties.
Only time will tell what the Dolphins choose to do at the wide receiver position. For now, Wicks is a name worth keeping a close eye on as the 2026 NFL Draft approaches.
