Even amidst a down year for the Miami Dolphins, two of of their players were announced to All-Pro teams for the first time
On Sunday morning, the Associated Press announced their selections for the first and second team All-Pro teams. Linebacker Jordyn Brooks made the first team, while center Aaron Brewer made the second team.
Both have been selected to an All-Pro team for the first time. This is Brooks’ sixth season in the NFL and second with the Dolphins.

He finished as the NFL’s leading tackler. He had an astounding 183 tackles(99 solo), three and a half sacks, 13 tackles for loss, three passes defensed, and a forced fumble and fumble recovery this season.
Furthermore, he was the only player in the NFL this year to have totaled 150+ tackles, 10+ tackles for loss, and at least record 3 sacks. He was one of two players to have eight games with 11 tackles or more and also was the only player to have two games with 18 or more tackles this season. To top it all off, his 183 tackles are the fourth most in franchise history. He was voted team captain before his second season with the Dolphins.

As for Aaron Brewer, it is also the first time he has been selected to an All-Pro team. In fact, he is the first Dolphins center to be selected to an second team All-Pro team since Dwight Stephenson in 1983.
Brewer was a big part of an offensive line that oversaw one of the best rushing attacks in the league. They averaged 4.7 yards per carry, the fourth most in the NFL this year. Brewer allowed only one sack all season long as well. Most impressively is that the O-line did not allow a single sack in four games, which led the NFL ahead of both Jacksonville and Houston. What with QB changes and injuries galore, that is no mean feat.
Brewer started in 16 of 17 games this year, starting all of them. Much like Brooks, he was also named a first time captain this season. He finished with 73 voted behind the Kansas City Chiefs‘ Creed Humphrey and received 19 first place votes.
Several other Dolphins players received first place votes as well. Fullback Alec Ingold finished fourth at his position with one first place vote, while kick returner Malik Washington received a first place vote at his position.
Perhaps the most surprising name not even mentioned was De’Von Achane. He was not even considered for the running back position, as that honor went to the Falcons‘ Bijan Robinson. However, Achane did received votes in the “all-purpose” category, but did not beat out the inimitable Christian McCaffery.
“I’m not sure there are many 7-9 teams in league history with two first-team All-Pros, but Brewer and Brooks both deserve the recognition,” ESPN analyst Bill Barnwell wrote of both Brooks’ and Brewer’s success despite their record. Still, for two first time All Pro players who have been vocal leaders for this squad, they’ll take it any day of the week.
