Depending on how the Miami Dolphins look over the next few weeks, there could be some significant changes coming to the organization. As things stand at the moment, the Dolphins should likely be heavy sellers at the trade deadline. However, outside of a few veteran and expensive players, it remains uncertain which other players the Dolphins would want to move on from.

If they decide to move on from any of their top young players, De’Von Achane would be the player teams want. Achane is arguably the best offensive player on the Dolphins roster, proving that he’s a valuable asset as a pass catcher and running back.

There should be multiple teams interested in him, with FanSided’s Julian Fadullon proposing an intriguing trade idea between Miami and the Houston Texans. The Texans have been a strange team to start the year, sitting at 0-3, and could certainly use a player like Achane on the offensive side of the football.

“This is only part one of the 2025 Miami Dolphins Blow-Up Fireworks Spectacular (TM). They are also 0-3, and of all the NFL’s winless teams through the early part of the 2025 season, the Dolphins are the ones that would most appreciate just pure quality draft capital. Enter the Texans, who, if they truly believe in CJ Stroud’s future as a franchise quarterback, must continue to invest into his weapons. Achane is linked to the Chiefs and Bears, but Stroud, more than either team, could make use of a playmaker to check down to.

“The Texans‘ offensive line is somehow performing worse than last year, and Stroud is clearly rattled after getting pressured and hit so often. Outside of Nico Collins, Houston’s only plus on offense is Nick Chubb,” he wrote.

De’Von Achane Appears Happy With Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins have a decent running back room with Achane and Ollie Gordon, but the addition of Gordon could be a telling sign of what’s to come for Achane. While moving on from him wouldn’t make much sense from the Dolphins‘ perspective, there have been many other moves the Dolphins have made in the past that have suggested that they don’t know what they’re doing at all times.

For Achane, however, he isn’t too worried about that at the moment. Instead, he’s happy to have Gordon in the running back room, having the following to say, according to David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel.

“I feel like it was good,” Achane said of getting Gordon in the mix. “It’s great for our offense to see a changeup. When he is out there on the short distances, he’s been 100 percent converting. … Our running back room is very capable, no matter who is in the game. All of us can make plays.”

What Will the Dolphins Do With De’Von Achane?

Regardless of what the Miami Dolphins do with Achane moving forward, and whether a team like the Houston Texans would send the necessary draft capital to acquire him, it seems that he has a lot of respect for his teammates, which should be important for Miami.

“I feel like it’s competition for everybody, even me,” Achane said. “We compete every day at practice. We got a great relationship with each other, but we all know it’s a business and we know the best man is going to be out there.”

Unless the package is too good to pass up, trading Achane would be highly questionable for many reasons.
