The Miami Dolphins technically lost an NFL football game Thursday night to the Buffalo Bills. But, for some on the team – aka wide receiver Tyreek Hill – it was a moral victory despite the 31-21 final score.
“We played good,” Hill said. “Obviously there were mistakes in the game. I also could have made some plays myself.”
Those who have followed the Dolphins closely this offseason might agree with Hill. In Week 1, the Dolphins were thoroughly embarrassed by the Indianapolis Colts and didn’t score a single point until there was 6:21 left in a 33-8 loss. Last week, the team played better, but stupid mistakes ended up costing them against the New England Patriots.
This week, the Dolphins somehow hung tough and even tied the score at 21 in the fourth quarter. But, there was a costly interception by you-know-who and a roughing the punter penalty that were just too much in the end.
Hill saw some more action this week as it was clear they needed to get some kind of a jolt on offense. He caught five passes on 10 targets for 49 yards and a touchdown. Not for nothing, but quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has not yet been informed that Tyreek isn’t Manute Bol. If you watched the game you know exactly what I’m talking about.
Tyreek Hill says the Dolphins are headed in the right direction
The Dolphins are now 0-3, but Tyreek thinks they are headed in the right direction. If I’m being honest, I kind of felt that way watching the game last night too. The Dolphins were supposed to get annihilated in Buffalo and they were actually gamers.
After the Indy loss, if you said that they’d lose the next two games, one would assume that it was full-on tailspin time, but it didn’t look like it at all.
“Being 0-3, we’ve got to win right now,” Hill said. “We’ve got to find it sooner than later. I feel like this is a good start. I feel like we did something a lot of people didn’t expect us to do, which is play a close game in Buffalo, against Buffalo, so we’re moving in the right direction right now. So it’s all positive right now.”
Tyreek Hill sounds abnormally positive following the loss to the Bills
After a tough divisional road loss, if you asked me which player on the Dolphins would be a positive leader, I promise I wouldn’t have guessed Tyreek Hill. But, to his credit and after all the arrows fired in his direction – rightfully or wrongfully, with emphasis on rightfully – about his leadership abilities, Hill is actual a voice of positivity and reason.
“Things aren’t going to always go your way, so it’s all about how do you want to be remembered? Do you want to be the 0-3 team that just threw in the towel and said it’s over, or are we going to be the team that started 0-3 and found a way to turn it around going into the fourth game?” Hill said. “We’re in a great position to turn everything around.”
