The New England Patriots made one of the biggest moves of the 2026 NFL offseason when they acquired star wide receiver A.J. Brown in a blockbuster trade with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Brown became one of the most talked about potential trade candidates a couple of years back. His name was constantly in the rumor mill. This offseason, the Eagles finally decided to trade him.
After making a surprising run to the Super Bowl last season, the Patriots came up just short against the Seattle Seahawks. Bringing in a player like Brown could be the missing piece to take the team to the next level.
Last season in Philadelphia, Brown had a bit of a down year. He played in 15 games, catching 78 passes for 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns. For those numbers to be a down year, he had quite a bit of success.
With that being said, Brown recently spoke out with a strong message about one of his new coaches.

As he continues to get acclimated to the New England offense, Brown showered McDaniels with praise.
“Josh is incredible, man. He’s making my job a lot easier. He’s creating matchups for me, moving me around. I already shared too much already that I’m gonna get in trouble for. He’s a very detailed coach,” Brown said.
“Just meeting with him, just trying to get on the same page, and seeing it as fast as he sees it. I think he’s been in this offense for like 25 years, so he has a check for every little thing the defense throws at you, which is a positive. But a lot of information for me to take in.”
During his time with the Eagles, Brown did not seem to get along well with the coaching staff on many occasions. Hearing him talk this way about McDaniels is positive news.

When Brown is fully bought in to a team, he is one of the best wide receivers in football. That is exactly what the Patriots are expecting from the 29-year-old wideout.
Over the last four years in Philadelphia, Brown has not produced less than 1,000 yards. If he can continue replicating that success in New England, the Patriots’ offense will be much more dangerous.
Drake Maye has become one of the fastest rising stars in the NFL. In addition to the move for Brown, New England also went out and signed former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs in free agency.
At least on paper, the Patriots’ offense looks to be much improved. Brown’s play will be a big part of the deciding factor for where the team ends up.
