The New England Patriots‘ Cinderella run to Super Bowl LX came to a crushing end, as they were run out of Levi’s Stadium by the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday night. With the final score settling in at 29-13, the Pats were throttled from the get-go, as their offense could not generate any sort of consistent yardage against the Seahawks’ airtight defense.
All eyes fell on second-year quarterback Drake Maye, who struggled in pretty much every facet of this game. Maye was jumpy in the pocket all night long, and he struggled to deal with the consistent pressure that Seattle sent his way. After the game, Maye kept it real when discussing his lackluster performance on the biggest stage the NFL has to offer.
Drake Maye Wants a ‘Redo’ of Super Bowl LX Performance
In his first full season as the Patriots’ starting quarterback, Maye was simply sensational. The former No. 3 overall pick threw for 4,394 yards and 31 touchdowns, while also rushing for 450 yards and four more scores. Those numbers earned Maye his second Pro Bowl selection, a spot on the All-Pro Second Team, and a second-place finish in the MVP race.
Maye’s final numbers in the Super Bowl don’t look awful (27/43, 295 YDS, 2 TD, 2 INT 1 fumble lost), but the majority of that production came in garbage time. Going up against another deadly defense, Maye could not properly deal with Seattle’s intense pressure and complex coverages, and the end result was a slog of a performance from New England’s offense.
Of course, it’s worth noting that Maye cannot shoulder all of the blame for this loss. His offensive line did virtually nothing to help him, and even when Maye had time under center, his receivers were unable to consistently get open. When reflecting on the game, though, Maye was hung up on his own individual performance, simply saying he’d like start from scratch and “redo” Super Bowl LX.
“I’d like to go back to the beginning and redo it,” Maye said when speaking to reporters after the game. “This is fuel. If it’s not, then I don’t know what this feeling would do for you. Because this is tough.”

The end result may not have been what Maye or the rest of his team was looking for, but it’s important to remember that this team wasn’t expected to come anywhere near the Super Bowl this year. New England exceeded expectations in a way few teams have in recent years, and with Maye under center, the future is bright for this team.
All the Patriots can do is use this loss as motivation to improve in 2026. It’s clear there’s some work to be done over the offseason, particularly on the offensive line and in the pass-catcher department. Getting to the Super Bowl is extremely difficult, but if Maye and New England can build off of this season, they will remain one of the top contenders for years to come.
