TNew England Patriots rookie offensive lineman Will Campbell struggled against the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl LX on Sunday. Now, NFL legends are reaching out to help the rookie get better in the offseason. Willie Anderson and Terron Armstead both reached out on social media.
Campbell allowed 14 pressures in Sunday’s game, and the Seahawks defensive front was able to get to Maye quickly. He was credited with allowing only one sack, but it was clear he felt overmatched in a game where the Seahawks defense was able to take control.
Campbell avoided speaking to the media following the loss on Sunday.
The Patriots’ rookie could get some value from learning from players like Armistead and Anderson. Anderson began his career with the Cincinnati Bengals in 1996 and was drafted in the first round with the 10th overall selection. He played 13 seasons with the Bengals, starting in 184 games. He was a four-time First-team All-Pro and made the Pro Bowl four times as well.
Anderson knows a thing or two about solid offensive line play, and suggested that Campbell learn from one of the more recent greats in Armstead.
Armistead was most recently with the Miami Dolphins. He began his career with the Saints in 2013, when the team drafted him in the third round with the 75th overall pick. The lineman was in the New Orleans area up until 2021, when he signed a five-year, $75-million contract with the Miami Dolphins in free agency. He retired from football after the 2024 season, finishing what was a storied career.
All told, Armstead received several accolades in his career. He was a five-time global selection and was a second-team All-Pro in 2018.
Armstead Wants To Help Patriots Rookie
Armstead responded to Anderson’s social media post and offered to help Campbell work on this technique.

The future is certainly bright for Campbell, and he has the potential to be a fixture on the Patriots’ offensive line. Mike Vrabel indicated that he would not be moved to guard as some initially suggested. Instead, they will keep him at the tackle spot, as the Patriots look for further development on the offensive line. This makes sense, given that Campbell was only in his first season in 2025 and will continue to develop as a player.
Modeling his game after a player like Armstead would be a positive thing. The latter was one of the most consistent tackles in the NFL during his time. He gave the Saints and Dolphins continuity at the respective positions and allowed them to have guaranteed consistency on the line. This is similar to the Patriots’ view of Campbell, as he figures to be a major centerpiece for not only the next couple of years but for the foreseeable future.
The Patriots have a unique window where they can be competitive for multiple seasons, and this latest Super Bowl appearance expedited the rebuilding process by quite a bit. It was a learning experience for a young team, and Campbell has the opportunity to have a solid future in New England.
