Russell Wilson’s days as a starting quarterback may be over, but his wife is trying to keep his recent work struggles in perspective.
Ciara, the singer, dancer, model and wife of the recently benched New York Giants quarterback shared a heartfelt collage on Instagram reminding Wilson things he can be grateful for after he was benched Tuesday.
Wilson is sixth in the NFL in passing yards (778) despite his 0-3 start yet was replaced by rookie Jaxson Dart for what New York head coach Brian Daboll said will be the rest of the 2025 season. Wilson will serve as the Giants‘ No. 2 QB.
Russell Wilson Going Through ‘Carousel of Life,’ per Ciara
Wilson has done much more in his life than most people, especially for his 5-11, 206-pound stature. He was a 10-time Pro Bowler, played in two Super Bowls and won Super Bowl XLVIII as a member of the Seattle Seahawks.
So even though the soon-to-be 37-year-old was benched by the 0-3 Giants — his fourth team in the past five seasons — his wife’s photo montage is a reminder for the blessings.
Included in the photo are photos of Wilson and his wife together in New York City, their kids, plus him in the cold tub and them together in Giants gear on the sideline at AT&T Stadium as some of her “reasons to smile.
Wilson ‘Grateful’ Despite Benching
Ciara and Wilson have been the All-American power couple, with each achieving superstar status in their crafts. But with Wilson’s status as a starter likely over — he signed a one-year, $10.5 million contract to be the Giants starter in the off-season — he can likely transition to the full-time role of parent, husband and charitable organizer.
The latter role he is already fulfilling. Perhaps fueled by his wife’s inspiring message, Wilson shared photos of his own service work while representing the Giants at Mount Sinai Children’s Hospital with the caption “With God, nothing is impossible. Grateful for His healing power!!!” on X (formerly Twitter).

With his family in attendance, Wilson turned back the clock and delivered perhaps one last great performance in New York’s 40-37 overtime loss to the Dallas Cowboys. He was 30 for 41 and threw for 450 yards and three touchdowns, helping the Giants nearly pull off the upset.
But in two other games against the Washington Commanders and Kansas City Chiefs, Wilson is just 35 for 69 (50.7 percent) for 328 yards, zero touchdowns and two interceptions, while guiding the Giants to just 15 points.
“We’ve had three games, haven’t put it together all collectively and made the decision to play Jaxson,” Daboll said, according to the Associated Press on Wednesday.
Wilson may also be grateful for all the blessings, and his higher power’s love, but he may also be feeling thankful to not have to play against the Los Angeles Chargers‘ impressive defense Sunday.
Wilson is 2-3 with just a 61.7 completion percentage in his career against the Chargers, and they are eighth in the NFL in yards-against per game (276.7) and fourth in points-against per game in the young season (16.7) through their 3-0 start.
