Former New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll has received his first known head coaching interview request, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz.

There were questions regarding whether the former Coach of the Year would receive any interviews for a lead job, but the Tennessee Titans are obviously interested.

Daboll’s track record of working with quarterbacks is likely what attracted the Titans to him, given quarterback Cam Ward’s development is the most important thing to the organization right now.

Could Daboll work some magic and find himself another job so soon after being fired by the Giants?

Can Brian Daboll Elavate Cam Ward?

The Tennessee Titans could be doing some background work on Daboll in advance for an offensive coordinator position on their staff, given his 20-40-1 record as head coach of the New York Giants.

Despite his struggles in New York, Daboll’s track record of working with young quarterbacks is about the best you can find in the NFL right now, given his history with Josh Allen and, of course, Jaxson Dart.

The work Daboll did with Allen is arguably what got him the Giants job in the first place, that and his nearly 30-year career of coaching football.

Given Ward’s arm talent and ability to make almost any throw on the field, Daboll is likely salivating at the thought of coaching the former No. 1 overall pick.

Brian Daboll’s Connection With QBs

When Daboll was with the Buffalo Bills, he and Allen built a strong relationship, so much so that the MVP quarterback was devastated when he left to take the job in New York.

“In terms of my path of my career and getting better, he was probably the most influential one. He’s a guy that I [would] talk to each and every day,” Allen said via ESPN’s Alaina Getzenberg in 2023.

Allen is one of the best turnaround stories of any quarterback in NFL history, having a rocky first two seasons only to develop into the MVP he is today under Daboll’s tutelage.

And of course, it was only for a short while, but his work with Dart was incredible as well, taking a rookie who was supposed to sit for a season and helping him play like an Offensive Rookie of the Year candidate.

“Me and Dabs just have a special relationship. He’s the guy that believed in me from day one. I think it does say a lot that he made the decision and had the confidence in me,” Dart told reporters after his first start in Week 4, via ESPN’s Jordan Raanan.

“Even just giving me the ball in those situations on a third down to make a play. I know that when you have a coach who you know has your back, I’m going to go out there and do everything I can for him to win.”

Clearly, Daboll has a way with quarterbacks, and it’s clear why any team would be interested in adding him to their staff.

Brian Daboll Giving ‘Rave Reviews’ to Giants Candidates

Daboll was fired unceremoniously by the New York Giants midseason, but that hasn’t stopped him from talking positively about his former employer to prospective candidates.

The Athletic’s Dianna Russini told the Giants Huddle podcast that Daboll has been giving “rave reviews” about Dart and Giants ownership.

“I’ve actually spoken to some coaches interested in the Giants’ job who’ve had conversations with Daboll, and they’ve gotten rave reviews about this Giants job, specifically about Jaxson,” Russini told John Schmeelk.

“Ownership and Jaxson, again, are things he had shared with them in I guess you can call it private conversations, but everyone is collecting information. They want to know what they’re walking into here, because nobody knows unless you do it.”

While Daboll’s tenure ended pretty poorly, it’s a good sign that he isn’t burning any bridges on the way out.

We’ll see if the former Coach of the Year can secure himself another job during the current hiring cycle.
