The beating the New York Giants took on the field on Sunday Night Football has continued with the fans and media heading into Week 2. On Monday, September 11, ESPN NY Radio’s Michael Kay took yet another shot at head coach Brian Daboll.
After criticizing Daboll for what he called “a huge party” at his New Jersey home the day before the team’s 40-0 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, Kay apologized on the air, even calling himself “a complete a**.”
“I need to make a heartfelt apology to Brian Daboll,” Kay said on September 12. “I found out after, and I should have done more work, I’m a complete a** for doing this, and I feel sorry for any pain I might have caused that family by insinuating anything.”
A day earlier, Kay called out Daboll for hosting the party.
“I have it on good authority that Brian Daboll had a huge party at his house on Saturday night. This is truth,” Kay said. “You’re not throwing a big party if you’re about to get your butt kicked by the Cowboys. So, this took everybody by surprise and that’s what’s scary. Nobody expected this sort of blowout. They thought that they were going to play with them and they didn’t even show up.
“That scares me, guys. That shows me that they don’t even know their own team,” Kay said. “There’s no way the head coach of a team throws a huge party like that the night before the opener if they think that there’s a chance that they’re going to get blown out. They just don’t do that.”
Daboll did have a party, but it was for his 6-year-old son’s birthday, according to the New York Post.

Fans & Media Continue to Rip Giants
As the team prepared on Wednesday, September 13, for its Week 2 matchup on the road against the Arizona Cardinals, the backlash from fans and media continued.
Jomboy Media’s Bobby Skinner posted on X, formerly Twitter, a compilation of hits that quarterback Daniel Jones took after the Giants were already down 40-0.

One Giants superfan, Joe “License Plate Guy” Ruback, posted that he wasn’t “gonna freak” while pointing out the “gap” between the Giants and their NFC East rivals the Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles.
“Not gonna freak after 1 game BUT, well you know,” he wrote. “Giants not only got wolloped by hated Dallas, the Eagles are better than Dallas. Giants have been outscored 78-7 in their last 2 games. Eagles & Cowboys ugh.”

It wasn’t all negative, though. Empire Sports Media’s Alex Wilson highlighted rookie cornerback Deonte Banks, whom he wrote played “fantastic” and “absolutely locked down his assignments.”
The Giants sucked yesterday but watch Deonte Banks, this kid was a fantastic.

Giants Continue to Monitor LT Andrew Thomas
Offensive tackle Andrew Thomas suffered a hamstring injury when he chased after the blocked FG in the first quarter. On September 13, the Giants listed him “day to day.”
Dan Schneier of the “Big Blue Banter” podcast criticized the Giants for leaving him in game. After the blocked field goal, he was seen limping on Cowboys cornerback DaRon Bland‘s pick-six in the first quarter.
“How do you watch this on tape and think ‘let’s bring our second-most valuable player back on for 30+ min,'” Schneier posted on X.
Andrew Thomas injured his hamstring trying to run down the blocked FG.

The Giants injury report on Wednesday was “pretty extensive” according to ESPN’s Jordan Raanan. Thomas and TE Darren Waller did not participate while Banks (calf), LB Cam Brown (ankle), CB Cor’Dale Flott (hamstring), K Graham Gano (right ankle), LB Azeez Ojulari (hamstring), S Gervarrius Owens (hamstring), T Matt Peart (elbow) and WR Wan’Dale Robinson (knee) were limited.
