John Harbaugh and the New York Giants are hoping to pull off a quick turnaround next season, going from last in the division to, hopefully, first.

According to The Athletic’s Ian O’Connor, Harbaugh believes anything less than a 10-7 record in 2026 would be a disappointment, and is striving to turn the Giants into a winning program as soon as humanly possible.

In order to do that, New York is going to have to make some additions to their roster this season, and thanks to their murky cap situation, the primary onus on making win-now moves will come in the 2026 NFL Draft.

What players can the Giants land in rounds one and two that will make immediate impacts at positions of need?

Giants Select Miami OL Francis Mauigoa at No. 5

In the latest mock draft from Pro Football Focus, Dalton Wasserman has the New York Giants selecting Miami Hurricanes offensive lineman Francis Mauigoa at No. 5 overall.

“New York should aim to get younger on the offensive line this offseason, particularly with right guard Greg Van Roten and right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor entering free agency. Mauigoa would be an immediate starter on the right side after recording an excellent 87.0 PFF pass-blocking grade in 2025,” wrote Wasserman.

With the Giants’ impending questions surrounding their offensive line, landing Mauigoa would absolutely be a plug-and-play starter and an upgrade to their offensive front.

As mentioned by Wasserman, New York has two starters set to test unrestricted free agency in Greg Van Roten and Jermaine Eluemunor.

Van Roten is 35 and likely isn’t going to be counted on as a 17-game starter again in 2026. He could be brought back as a backup on a cheap contract.

As for Eluemunor, though, his steady play at right tackle over the last few seasons should earn him a decent-sized contract. Spotrac projects a two-year, $17.3 million contract for his services.

If the Giants can bring back their incumbent right tackle and draft Mauigoa, they would be fortifying the right side of their offensive line for 2026 and beyond.

Mauigoa played right tackle in college, but in the NFL, he could project as a better interior offensive lineman, at least to start his career.

This would allow the Giants to maintain their solid continuity from last season and add a blue-chip talent to the mix as the only new starter.

Giants Land Georgia DT Christen Miller at No. 37

With the New York Giants second-round pick, Wassmerman has Georgia interior defensive lineman Christen Miller coming off the board.

The Giants’ defensive front is one of their strong suits. Their ability to get after opposing quarterbacks is unreal, loaded with first-round talent at multiple spots.

But the one thing they couldn’t do in 2025 was stop the run. New York’s defense gave up 145.3 rushing yards per game to opponents last season, 31st-worst in the league.

Miller could be a major help in improving that porous run defense.

“Put the tape on and you see a defensive tackle who can absolutely wreck a running game. Miller’s ability to hold the point of attack, absorb double teams, and maintain gap integrity translates immediately to the professional level,” reads NFL Draft Buzz’s scouting report of Miller.

“He plays the game the way old-school defensive coordinators dream about: low pad level, heavy hands, relentless motor.”

When in doubt, select a defender from Georgia, and that’s exactly what the Giants do here with their second-round pick.

Both Mauigoa and Miller address key needs on New York’s roster and would be a home run draft for Harbaugh in his first year at the helm.

Finding two players to make a day-one impact will certainly help the Giants in their quest to go from worst to first in the NFC East.
