Ahead of their Week 3 matchup against the AFC powerhouse Kansas City Chiefs, the New York Giants lucked into some great news. Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy was officially ruled out Saturday with a shoulder injury he suffered in Week 1 against the Chargers in São Paulo, Brazil.
Worthy dislocated his shoulder on a collision with Chiefs TE Travis Kelce early in the first quarter in Brazil. Worthy and Kelce were running crossers from opposite sides of the formation on a third down, trying to free Worthy up against man coverage by creating a natural pick play. Kelce took his route too far up the field, however, slamming his shoulder into the much smaller Worthy. Kelce took full responsibility for the mistake after the game.
The Chiefs decided to forgo season-ending surgery in the hopes that Worthy could play through the injury with a brace. So far, however, he’s been unable to suit up. With fellow Chiefs WR Rashee Rice still in the middle of serving his six-game suspension, Kansas City will be down their top two receivers against the Giants.
The New York Giants Offense Exploded Against the Cowboys in Week 2

After a dismal performance in Week 1 against the Commanders, New York’s offense bounced back in a big way in Week 2. Rookie OL Marcus Mbow entered the lineup at left tackle, helping to stabilize the offensive line just enough to give QB Russell Wilson a little bit of time to operate.
Wilson threw for 450 yards on a whopping 11 yards per attempt, with three touchdowns to just one interceptions. He was wheeling and dealing, slinging the ball down the field with the utmost confidence. The old Russell Wilson moon-balls were back, at least for one afternoon.
While the Giants‘ running game wasn’t as effective, the team still had 506 total yards and 22 first downs, with just the one turnover. New York overcame 160 yards in penalties to take the game to overtime, but ultimately it wasn’t enough to secure the win.
New York Giants HC Brian Daboll and GM Joe Schoen Under a Lot of Pressure Entering Week 3
Now 0-2 entering Week 3, the Giants need to start winning now if this regime is to survive the season. Pressure will continue to mount to start rookie first-round pick Jaxson Dart at quarterback over Wilson, especially if the losses continue to mount.
The seats for Giants head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen were already boiling this offseason, and they’ve done nothing to cool them through two weeks. Ownership almost cleaned house after last season, but decided to give these two one more year to figure things out.
If New York is to perform well enough to salvage Daboll and Schoen’s jobs, more offensive performances like last week’s will be needed. This secondary didn’t play well against the Cowboys, but their defensive line is among the best in the league. There’s talent here, the Giants just need to live up to it.
