The New York Jets got their teeth kicked down their throat, losing 42-10 to the New England Patriots.
However, in some positive news, Breece Hall finally eclipsed 1,000 rushing yards for the first time in his career.
He finished Week 17 with 14 carries for 111 rushing yards. Hall averaged 7.9 yards per clip, and the highlight of the day was a 59-yard touchdown run. Hall also added two receptions for 18 receiving yards.
Hall’s Wild Crazy Ride to 1K
Hall entered the league as the No. 36 overall pick in the second round of the 2022 NFL draft.
He was on pace for a 1,000-yard season and the Rookie of the Year honors in 2022, but he tore his ACL in Week 7.
In 2023, the Jets coaching staff thought they got Hall to 1,000 rushing yards, but they fudged up the counting of numbers on the sideline, and he ended up with 996 rushing yards.
Last season, Hall started 16 games, but he battled injuries throughout the season.
This year, Hall was finally able to check that item off his bucket list. It wasn’t pretty. Between Weeks 11 and 16, Hall failed to rush for more than 68 rushing yards. At one point during the season, Hall was on pace for over 1,200 rushing yards.
Top Social Media Reactions to Hall’s Jets Achievement
“Breece Hall is the first Jets running back since Chris Ivory in 2015 to rush for 1,000+ yards in a season,” SleeperJets posted on X previously Twitter.
“Breece Hall is a superstar RB who I hope thrives once he leaves the worst organization in professional sports. Jets coaching staff was too stupid to make him the bell cow when the games mattered. Another feather in Aaron Glenn’s dunce cap,” a fan reacted on social media.
“EVERY WEEK, Breece Hall is the only source of our offense… AND EVERY WEEK, they get away from feeding him… AND EVERY WEEK, that results in us doing literally nothing on offense. This isn’t rocket science. Keep feeding your only good player,” JetsTheory posted.
“Jets effectively wasted: Elite Special Teams, Unrealistic OL health, [and] Breece Hall’s 1,000 rushing yards,” Jets analyst Dylan Tereman said.
“Breece Hall gets 59 yards on that touchdown. He needed 46 to get to 1k. Emphatically stamps his best rushing output year on that long TD run. Happy for him, now find a way to keep him to help your rookie QB,” Tereman added.
“Breece Hall on reaching 1,000 rushing yards on the season: ‘It’s cool, sucks that it had to happen in a loss. Felt like I should have even gotten to that mark a few weeks ago, but there’s just been a lot going on,’ Hall revealed via SNY Jets.
The Rest of the Game Was Unremarkable for the Jets
This was the fourth straight game that the Jets have lost by at least 20 points.
New England outclassed the Jets in essentially every major category. The Patriots finished with 28 first downs, 440 net offensive yards, and they averaged 7.1 yards per play.
Drake Maye had one of the best games of his young NFL career. He completed 19-of-21 passes for 256 passing yards and five touchdowns with no interceptions.
