New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn has made major changes to his staff.
On offense, the Jets are moving on from quarterbacks coach Charles London and senior offensive assistant and pass game coordinator Scott Turner.
On the defensive side of the ball, the green and white are moving on from: defensive line coach Eric Washington, linebackers coach Aaron Curry, defensive assistant Roosevelt Williams, and defensive assistant and nickel coach Alonso Escalante.
NFL Insider Aaron Wilson was the first to break this news on social media.
He also shared that the team plans on reassigning “at least one other offensive coach who was retained by Aaron Glenn.”
The Most Notable Change Is at QB Coach
While there have been a lot of changes to the staff, the most significant is moving on from Charles London.
London, 50, was the man responsible for the Jets quarterback room in 2025. It was one of the worst groups in NFL history by every major metric.
London is a former college running back at Duke. After his playing days, he transitioned into coaching. Across his 21 years in the business, 10 of those seasons were spent as an RB coach.
That makes sense. He was a former college running back, so he should be coaching the position that, in theory, he knew best.
However, in 2021, out of nowhere, London changed from a running backs coach to a quarterbacks coach.
The Jets were the fourth team in a row to employ London as a quarterbacks coach. The other teams include the Atlanta Falcons, Tennessee Titans, and the Seattle Seahawks.
Could Strongly Hint a New DC Hire Is Looming
Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic revealed on “Jets Final Drive” that the hesitancy from the Jets to fire any assistant defensive coaches was because of their DC vacancy.
The new defensive coordinator was expected to have a say in which assistants were fired and which ones would be retained, if any.
With the team moving forward with several firings, that could indicate that a DC hire is coming in the not-so-distant future.
The Jets conducted eight virtual Zoom interviews with the first round of candidates. This week, they cut that group of eight down to a smaller number. Those selected individuals would be set to interview in person at the team facilities for the vacant DC role.

ESPN’s Rich Cimini confirmed the firings and said, “No surprises here, except maybe Turner. This creates two key openings on offense — QB and PGC.”
“It’s not unusual for a first-year coach to tweak his staff after one year, although seven changes (including previously fired DC Steve Wilks) is more than a tweak. The DC position remains vacant. I’d keep an eye on Wink Martindale there. OC Tanner Engstrand remains,” Cimini added on social media.
NFL Insider Connor Hughes of SNY responded to the multiple firings by posting, “Crazy turnover after one season.”
Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic said the Jets have moved on from “some notable coaches” with these changes.
