The New York Jets finished with a 3-14 record in 2025.

One of the biggest reasons the green and white stunk was due to injuries. Two of the team’s best weapons on offense ended the year in the blue medical tent.

General manager Darren Mougey provided a huge health update on rookie tight end Mason Taylor and wide receiver Garrett Wilson after the season.

“You mentioned the young Mason Taylor; he got a lot of work this year. Unfortunately ended this season on IR, but that is nothing long-term we are concerned about. So it’ll be great to get him back to continue to develop. He was a young player coming into the league at 20 years old. He had a good year and will only get better,” Mougey told Jets senior reporter Eric Allen.

“You mentioned Garrett. Unfortunately, he got hurt. That is another injury that we don’t think is going to be an issue long term. So Garrett should be back,” Mougey added.

A Massive Sigh of Relief for Jets Fans

Taylor, 21, missed the final four games of his rookie season due to a neck injury.

While technically the Jets placed the former LSU product on injured reserve, it was a little too late. He was placed on IR ahead of Week 18 — a game he had already been ruled out for.

Two bits of information were troubling about Taylor’s injury. First off, he was dealing with a neck, which is always scary. Secondly, head coach Aaron Glenn revealed that he had a “good chance” to return this season after suffering the neck issue, but he never returned to the lineup.

The natural question after that happens: Did Taylor suffer a setback in his recovery? Head coach Aaron Glenn pushed against that when asked at the end of the year.

Now we have definitive wording that Taylor should be just fine.

Taylor appeared in 13 games and made 11 starts. He played in 81% of the offensive snaps.

With those opportunities, Taylor finished with 44 receptions for 369 receiving yards and scored a touchdown.

Jets Better Hope Wilson Is Ready to Go

At the end of the year, the Jets could have activated Wilson from injured reserve. They opted against it.

Why?

The team was terrible and was going nowhere, so why risk it? They couldn’t explain that so bluntly publicly, but that’s the truth.

Wilson only appeared in seven games this season. This was the first year of his career that he missed any games. Before this, Wilson had been Mr. Availability for the green and white.

The goal this offseason for the Jets is trying to find a Robin to his Batman. Wilson is a special talent who is considered the WR1 on this squad. It was painfully obvious this season that the Jets didn’t have any competent pass catchers opposite of him that would draw away opposing defense’s attention.

When Wilson got hurt, that void in the wide receiver room was magnified tenfold.

The former Ohio State product finished the season with 36 catches for 395 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
