New York Jets quarterback Justin Fields is the man heading into the 2025 season.
He was already crowned as the QB1, and this appears to be his best shot to prove himself as franchise quarterback material. An esteemed panel of NewYorkJets.com media analysts was asked to share their statistical predictions for Fields ahead of the 2025 campaign.
“I think we’re about to see a career year from Justin Fields,” Jets senior reporter Eric Allen said. “If he starts 15 games, I’ll set the floor at 2,625 yards passing and 825 yards rushing, which would amount to 3,450 yards. Fields is a dynamic dual threat, and while 30 total TDs is certainly possible – let’s say 27.”
“I’m going with 28 total touchdowns,” Jets team reporter Ethan Greenberg added in. “It wouldn’t surprise me if Fields had at least 7 rushing scores.”
“But he and I and everyone in Jets Nation would still love to see him thrive with, say, 3,897 pass yards (Aaron Rodgers’ ’24 total), 4,500 total yards, and 35 TDs responsible for. Each of those three figures would have come in seventh among NFL QBs last season, and that wouldn’t be a bad start to the next phase of Fields’ career as the Jets’ new No. 7,” Jets senior contributor Randy Lange said.
“I think Justin Fields will have 3,450 total yards in 2025,” Jets team reporter Caroline Hendershot predicted.
Bold Fields Predictions Would Lead Jets to Historic Campaign
A lot of the predictions danced around the total touchdowns for Fields in 2025.
When you take a gander at the Jets franchise history, here are the top total touchdown scorers: Ryan Fitzpatrick in 2015 and Al Dorow in 1960 for the New York Titans, who later became the Jets in 1963 (33).
Mark Sanchez had 32 total touchdowns during the 2011 season when you combine passing and rushing scores.
Rounding out the top of the list is Vinny Testaverde with 30 total touchdowns in 1998.
Some predictions had him just outside that history, and Lange predicted 35 total scores, which would reset the record books in a single season for the NYJ.
If Fields is having a season in that ballpark, the Jets are inevitably going to end their playoff drought. The NFL is a quarterback-driven league, and how Fields performs will be a big needle mover either positively or negatively for the green and white.
A Joe Namath Guarantee for a Stat Justin Fields Will Annihilate
How many total touchdowns Fields will end up with is a difficult proposition. Touchdowns are volatile.
A stat that won’t be hard to predict is Fields’ rushing yards in a Jets uniform in 2025.
The single-season rushing leader by a QB in Jets/Titans franchise history is Al Dorow. He ran for 453 rushing yards back in 1960.
Fields has either broken that every season or was on pace to before getting hurt. Last season, he was on pace to rush for 655 yards.
It’s all about staying healthy. Your best ability is availability, and Fields, quite frankly, hasn’t been available throughout his NFL career to date for one reason or another. The former Ohio State product has missed at least two games every year, if not more.
