NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported assistant general manager Alec Halaby ended his tenure with GM Howie Roseman and the Philadelphia Eagles on Tuesday.

On the heels of adding what appears to be another strong draft class, the Philadelphia Eagles will undergo a change in their front office.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday longtime assistant general manager Alec Halaby will leave his position with the franchise.

“After 17 years with the Eagles organization, assistant general manager Alec Halaby has decided to step away to start a new professional chapter of his career,” wrote Rapoport on X.

“The personnel executive was a key contributor to both Eagles Super Bowl championships.”

Both Halaby and Eagles general manager Howie Roseman released a statement on the team’s official X account Tuesday morning.

“I am deeply grateful to the Eagles organization, especially Jeffrey [Lurie] and Howie [Roseman], for giving me a chance to work in the game I love,” wrote Halaby. “Jeffrey’s stewardship has created a first-class organization…

“Football has been a core part of my life for as long as I can remember; that won’t change. Nevertheless, after 17 years in Philadelphia, I’ve decided to step away to start a new professional chapter.

“It has been a wonderful journey. Go Birds.”

Assistant GM Alec Halaby Leaving Eagles

Coinciding with Halaby’s statement, the Eagles released a statement from Roseman on social media Tuesday.

“Alec has been a huge part of our success, and a close friend,” wrote Roseman. “Although I am sad to see him leave the organization, I am excited to see what he does next.

“Whatever direction he decides to go, I have no doubt he is going to have great success. On behalf of the entire organization, I wish him the absolute best.”

During Halaby’s tenure, the Eagles continued to be one of the top organizations across the entire league.

In Halaby’s 17 years, the Eagles won two Super Bowls and three NFC championships. With Halaby in the organization, Philadelphia also won seven division titles under four different head coaches.

Since 2010, the Eagles have amassed a 150-110-1 record. That’s a .577 win percentage.

Halaby began his tenure as an intern in 2007. He became the team’s assistant GM in 2022.

Philadelphia Also Loses Senior VP Bryce Johnston

Halaby wasn’t the only executive to leave the Eagles this week. The team’s senior vice president Bryce Johnston also departed.

Unlike Halaby, Johnston accepted another NFL job with the Atlanta Falcons.

Johnston announced his departure through a statement on Monday.

“Before moving on to a new challenge in Atlanta, I wanted to take this time to thank Jeffrey Lurie, Howie Roseman and Don Smolenski for the opportunity they gave me over the past 10 years,” Johnston’s statement read. “The high level of success achieved by the organization begins with their commitment to pursuing every possible competitive advantage, and I greatly appreciate the trust they placed in me to contribute to that philosophy.”

Philly Voice’s Jimmy Kempski reported Johnston played a key role with the team’s the salary cap. In recent years, the Eagles have become masters at navigating the cap to create as much space as possible for star players.

Roseman has received a lot of credit for that success, and deservingly so. But Johnston also helped a lot in that area.
