The Philadelphia Eagles have a lot of work to do this offseason after flaming out of the 2025 NFL Playoffs in the wild-card round. The first big order of business involves finding a new offensive coordinator after the team announced that Kevin Patullo would not be returning in the same role for the 2026 campaign.
After enduring a fairly miserable season on the offensive side of the ball, the Eagles are casting a wide net when it comes to their search for a new leader of their offense. On Tuesday, reports indicate that Philadelphia will meet with former New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll to discuss their opening, which could deal a big blow to the Buffalo Bills as they begin their search for a new head coach.
Eagles Set to Interview Brian Daboll for Offensive Coordinator Opening
After winning Super Bowl LIX, the Eagles lost their offensive coordinator, Kellen Moore, to the New Orleans Saints. They quickly tabbed Kevin Patullo as their offensive coordinator, but the unit struggled to get off the ground in 2025. The rushing attack that dominated the year before was a shell of itself, and the passing game would often get stuck in the mud, much to the frustration of superstar wide receiver A.J. Brown.
With Patullo no longer in charge of the offense, Philly is taking a long look at several different candidates for this role. That includes Daboll, who is fresh off a failed stint as the Giants‘ head coach. While Daboll’s stock may not be all that high right now, he did work with Jalen Hurts during their time together with the Alabama Crimson Tide in the college football ranks.
Daboll is drawing quite a bit of interest this offseason, both as an offensive coordinator and as a head coach. In the wake of the Bills’ decision to fire head coach Sean McDermott on Monday, Daboll quickly got floated as a potential candidate, given his previous work with Josh Allen as the team’s offensive coordinator. However, Philly will interview him for their offensive coordinator opening on Tuesday, which could present some problems for Buffalo if it ends up hiring him.
“The Eagles are interviewing former Giants head coach Brian Daboll today for their offensive coordinator vacancy,” Dianna Russini of The Athletic reported in a post on X. “Daboll, who worked with Jalen Hurts at Alabama, is also receiving head coaching interest from teams.”
Should the Eagles Hire Brian Daboll?

While things didn’t work out for him with the Giants, Daboll has garnered a reputation as an offensive mastermind during his time in the NFL. It’s going to take a strong leader to get the Eagles’ offense back on track, and Daboll’s familiarity with Hurts could make him the perfect option to come in and help this group.
The problem for Philadelphia is that Daboll is likely going to be more interested in the various head coach gigs he’s being considered for, so if it wants to hire him, it may have to cross its fingers and hope he doesn’t land a head coach job. That could present a slew of different issues for the Eagles, so while Daboll is an ideal offensive coordinator candidate, his availability will likely depend on his ability to earn another head coach gig.
