The Dallas Cowboys legend Michael Irvin remains confused by the narrative that’s been created around Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts.
Despite Hurts’ success throughout his career with the team, the veteran quarterback tends to find himself criticized much more than others.
In Irvin’s eyes, it’s baffling.
Cowboys Legend Can’t Believe Eagles Still Have This Jalen Hurts Problem

In a discussion with former Eagles wide receiver Alshon Jeffery, Irvin sounded off on his feelings about the treatment of Hurts.
“It blows my mind,” the Cowboys receiver said.
“I’ve heard people say that Jalen Hurts is, ‘He’s on thin ice, he’s working on — ‘ I’m like, ‘This dude took you to the Super Bowl two of the last four years.’ What are we talking about? If you wrapped his accomplishments around Trevor Lawrence, they would be the happiest people in the world in Jacksonville. If you wrapped it around Joe Burrow, they’d be the happiest people in the world in Cincinnati. If you wrapped it around Josh Allen, they’d be the happiest people in the world in Buffalo. Why can’t they be the happiest people in the world in Philadelphia when this brother has gotten them to the Super Bowl two times in the last four years?”
Irvin’s questions and points are absolutely valid, although his aim is slightly misguided.
While there might’ve been a time when Philly fans doubted Hurts’ status as the franchise quarterback, the Super Bowl MVP nod solidified his position as the long-term QB1 in the eyes of most fans.
You’ll have a hard time finding an Eagles fan who’s frustrated with what Hurts brings to the table. Most would argue that the narrative is more media-driven–nationally and locally–than anything.

As stated, most franchise quarterbacks (including Dak Prescott in Dallas) would be thrilled with Hurts’ resume.
He’s a two-time NFC Champion, one-time Super Bowl Champion, and Super Bowl MVP. Hurts was named All-Pro in 2022 and earned three Pro Bowl nods.
