The Philadelphia Eagles soon could lose a key assistant, as passing game coordinator and defensive backs coach Christian Parker is quickly becoming one of the more talked-about young defensive coaches in the NFL.

Parker’s name is currently in the mix for at least two coordinator openings as the 2026 hiring cycle is starting to ramp up.

Parker, 34, is scheduled to interview with the Dallas Cowboys for their DC opening this week and now, according to insider Jordan Schultz, Parker is also expected to meet with the Green Bay Packers for their open defensive coordinator position after Jeff Hafley was hired to take over as head coach of the Miami Dolphins.

More on Philadelphia Eagles Assistant Christian Parker Drawing Interest From Packers as DC Candidate

Parker’s role in Philadelphia has encompassed both game-planning against opposing passing attacks and direct oversight of the defensive backs. As passing game coordinator, he works closely with DC Vic Fangio, and he has been a huge part of the Eagles’ success on defense.

Parker’s job with the team’s secondary has been arguably his most impressive, though. Since arriving in Philadelphia, he has helped elevate several players in the Eagles’ defensive backfield. the team’s top two young cornerbacks, Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean, flourished under his leadership over the last two seasons, becoming standout contributors in a top-ranked secondary.

Mitchell and DeJean were both key starters as rookies, and in Year 2, each was named a first-team All-Pro. Philly allowed just 189.8 yards through the air per game last season, good enough for 8th in the NFL. It’s that track record of proven results coupled with familiarity that could lure Parker to Green Bay once again.

Parker’s coaching journey began in the college ranks before he entered the NFL as a defensive quality control coach with the Packers in 2019. Thus, current Packers head coach Matt LaFleur knows Parker well, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if Green Bay poached him.

Parker Has Over a Decade of Coaching Experience

Counting his time in college, Parker has been coaching since 2013. He has yet to serve as a defensive coordinator, so that’s the next logical step. Here’s a look at his previous experience:

  • Virginia State University (2013–2014)
Coached cornerbacks in 2013 and defensive backs in 2014.
  • Norfolk State University (2015–2016)
  • Coached safeties in 2015 and the full defensive backs group (and served as assistant recruiting coordinator) in 2016.
  • Notre Dame (2017)
Served as a defensive analyst for one season.
  • Texas A&M (2018)
Worked as a defensive analyst on Jimbo Fisher’s staff.
  • Green Bay Packers (2019) — Defensive Quality Control Coach
Handled scouting reports, analytics support and practice preparation for the defensive staff.
  • Green Bay Packers (2020) — Assistant Defensive Backs Coach
Assisted with weekly game planning, film study and on-field instruction for the secondary.
  • Denver Broncos (2021–2022) — Defensive Backs Coach
Coached both cornerbacks and safeties in multiple coverage systems.
  • Philadelphia Eagles (2023–present) — Defensive Backs Coach
Leads a turnover-focused secondary within Vic Fangio’s defensive framework, helping develop DeJean and Mitchell.

With the Packers looking to keep their defense relevant following Hafley’s departure, Parker could be a sneaky-strong candidate. Stay tuned.
