ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Pittsburgh Steelers players asked the organization to bring back quarterback Aaron Rodgers for next season.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are probably going to use hiring a new head coach to replace Mike Tomlin this offseason as an opportunity for a fresh start in several areas of their organization. In all likelihood, that includes quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who might not want to play for another head coach in Pittsburgh anyway.

But that doesn’t mean Rodgers’s Steelers teammates don’t want him back.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Steelers players told the team during exit interviews last week that they would like the 4-time MVP to come back for 2026.

“Almost all Steelers players praised Rodgers during their exit interviews, and most if not all of them want the veteran quarterback to return in 2026,” Schefter wrote. “His support among players was universal, and those around the organization pointed out how beloved and respected Rodgers was there.”

According to Schefter, Rodgers hasn’t ruled out a return. But he will weigh his options this spring.

“Rodgers, 42, did not commit to retiring or returning to the Steelers during his conversations with the organization, according to sources, and wants to take time away before deciding his future,” added Schefter.

Rodgers posted a 10-6 record with 3,322 passing yards, 24 touchdowns and seven interceptions in 16 regular season starts with the Steelers during 2025. He orchestrated an incredible fourth quarter versus the Baltimore Ravens in Week 18 to win the AFC North.

However, things came crashing down for Rodgers and the Steelers in the AFC wild card round. The team didn’t score a touchdown, and the Houston Texans returned two Rodgers giveaways for scores in a 30-6 blowout.
