The Seattle Seahawks appear to be in a great position to potentially repeat as Super Bowl champions this season. But every team has its questions entering a new campaign.
Pro Football Focus’ Gordon McGuinness argued with the Seahawks, the biggest question is the team’s newest top offensive assistant coach.
On Thursday, McGuinness named one big concern for every NFL team. For the Seahawks, he picked new offensive coordinator Brian Fleury
“The Seahawks did lose offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, who left to become the Las Vegas Raiders’ head coach. Brian Fleury replaces him after spending the past seven seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, where he served as run game coordinator and tight ends coach in his final year,” wrote McGuinness.
“With Sam Darnold still at quarterback and the talented receiving corps around him, Seattle has more than enough talent to remain one of the NFL’s better offenses. Even so, a transition to a new playcaller could bring some early growing pains.”
This fall will be the first time Fleury serves as an offensive coordinator. Last season, Fleury was the San Francisco 49ers run game coordinator and tight ends coach.
Seahawks Replacing Klint Kubiak With Brian Fleury

GettyBrian Fleury will replace Klint Kubiak as the team’s offensive coordinator this season.
Most Super Bowl winners lose either one or both of their coordinators. So what the Seahawks will go through with Fleury replacing Kubiak this fall is pretty standard.
But it’s still not easy to do, especially with a head coach that specializes on the other side of the ball.
Kubiak was Seattle’s offensive coordinator for only one season. But it was obviously a memorable one, with the Seahawks going 14-3 and winning the Super Bowl.
On offense, the Seahawks finished third in points scored and eighth in yards. They were a top 10 unit in both rushing and passing as well.
Fortunately for Fleury, quarterback Sam Darnold will return with a lot of his favorite pass targets. The most difficult task for Fleury will be keeping Seattle’s run game elite without Kenneth Walker III or Zach Charbonnet to begin the regular season.
Fleury doesn’t have a ton of offensive coaching experience let alone experience as an OC. In 2019, he joined the 49ers coaching staff as a defensive quality control coach.
Before that, he coached defensive position groups for the Cleveland Browns.
In 2022, Fleury started coaching tight ends in San Francisco. He added run game coordinator to his title last season.
Seahawks Offense Aiming to Bounce Back in Preseason Week 2

GettyPro Football Focus’ Gordon McGuinness called offensive coordinator Brian Fleury the team’s biggest concern entering the 2026 NFL season.
Switching offensive coordinators always takes some time. But unfortunately for the new OC, the Seahawks did little to suggest in the preseason opener the transition is going to be quick and easy.
Against the Dallas Cowboys last Saturday, the Seahawks had just 156 yards, averaging three yards per play. The offense only had 49 passing yards.
Granted, a lot of starters, including Darnold, didn’t play. So, it’s important not to overreact.
But Seahawks fans can start to feel a little better about Fleury as the new man in charge of the offense if Seattle looks better in Week 2 of the preseason versus the Tennessee Titans.
The Seahawks will visit the Titans on Sunday night. Kickoff will occur at 5 pm ET.
