The Seattle Seahawks are hard at work preparing for Super Bowl LX, which will see them square off against the New England Patriots for a chance to etch their names into the history books. While the Seahawks are the favorite to come out on top in this clash, there’s no doubt that the Pats are going to give them all they can handle in this one.
As is always the case in the NFL, injuries are dominating the headlines ahead of the big game. Both quarterbacks in this game, Sam Darnold and Drake Maye, are banged up, and several notable players are also dealing with ailments that could throw their statuses up in the air. On Tuesday, Seattle received some good news regarding linebacker and special teams ace Chazz Surratt that will surely make fans happy.
Seahawks Activate Chazz Surratt from Injured Reserve
Surratt was selected in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings, but he only spent one season with them before he got released. The New York Jets scooped him up, and he lasted three years with them before signing with the Seahawks right before the start of the 2025 campaign.
Early in his career, Surratt has struggled to carve out a role for himself on defense. Instead, he’s found a home on special teams for Seattle, which is where he’s emerged as a key contributor for his new squad. Surrat racked up 11 special teams tackles this year, despite only suiting up for 11 games.
An ankle injury disrupted Surratt’s momentum and landed him on injured reserve, with the hope being that he could return at some point in the playoffs. Sure enough, Surratt is going to return for his team’s biggest game of the season, as the Seahawks activated him from injured reserve on Tuesday morning, clearing the way for him to suit up in Super Bowl LX.
“The Seahawks activated linebacker Chazz Surratt from injured reserve on Tuesday, adding back to the roster a key special teams player ahead of Super Bowl LX,” John Boyle wrote for the team’s official website. “Rookie tackle Amari Kight was placed on injured reserve to make room on the 53-man roster.”

Surratt isn’t the flashiest name on the Seahawks’ roster, but in a game where everything is amplified like the Super Bowl, every play is important. Seattle has beaten opponents frequently in the special teams department this season, and it wouldn’t be a stretch to assume that special teams could play a big role in determining who wins this game.
Having Surratt back is a big win for the Seahawks, as they want to be as close to full strength as possible heading into this one. There are certainly some injury situations that will be worth monitoring over the next few days, but Surratt seems like a lock to suit up with the rest of his teammates when they return to action. Kickoff for Super Bowl LX is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET on Sunday night.
