The Seattle Seahawks could be losing Super Bowl LX MVP Kenneth Walker III, and with that possibility, the front office could be looking at running backs when the 2026 NFL Draft comes around in April.
Seattle has hit on Day 2 running backs with Walker (41st overall in 2022) and Zach Charbonnet (52nd overall pick in 2023) being second-round picks. As a result, if the reigning Super Bowl champions do have to say goodbye to Walker, the front office has shown they can scout running backs.
With the NFL Scouting Combine underway this week, the running backs at the event could be on the radar of the Seahawks’ president of football operations and general manager, John Schneider.
Moreover, Seattle Sports’ Brock Huard believes Washington Huskies’ Jonah Coleman would be an ideal fit for the Seahawks.
“The one I’m most intrigued about is Jonah Coleman,” Huard said on Feb. 24 (h/t Seattle Sports). “Could Jonah Coleman be a Seattle Seahawk? So how does he run? How does he jump? He did an unbelievable job transforming his body, which is both good and bad.
“Because if that body needed transformation in college, that’s not always a great projection into the NFL. But he did it, and he’s going to be in phenomenal shape here this week. Keep an eye on (him). In a very weak running back class with a couple of guys at the very top, he will be one of the more intriguing backs, especially if he runs and jumps really, really well.”
Where Is Jonah Coleman Projected to Go?
After transferring from Arizona to join Huskies head coach Jedd Fisch again, Coleman became Washington’s go-to running back over the last two seasons. In 2024, he totaled 1,053 rushing yards with 10 touchdowns, averaging 5.5 yards per carry.
During the 2025 season, his rushing yards dropped to 758 with a 4.9-yard average. Despite the drop in rushing yards, Coleman did have a major impact in the scoring and the passing game, recording 15 rushing touchdowns along with career bests of 31 catches, 354 receiving yards, and two receiving touchdowns.
As for where Coleman can go in the draft, Huard believes that the former Huskies standout would be an ideal target in the middle rounds if he’s still on the board.
“For your Seattle Seahawks, third, fourth round, if (Coleman) is still sticking around there based on what he does this week in Indy, he’d be a pretty darn intriguing guy,” Huard added.
Could the Seahawks Draft Another Huskie Instead?
With the draft process underway, Coleman is not the only former Huskie emerging in speculation for the Seahawks to consider selecting. CBS Sports’ Ryan Wilson believes that Seattle should consider using the draft to find the WR2 behind Jaxon Smith-Njigba and has a local product in mind.
“If [the Seahawks are] trying to get a wide receiver, [with] Rashid Shaheed [hitting free agency], they’ll get Tory Horton back, of course; [however], Denzel Boston might be an option here,” Wilson said during a Feb. 10 appearance on CBS Sports HQ. “[Boston is] 6‑foot‑4‑inch [and] can run for days. He would be sort of a DK Metcalf replacement with a little bit more versatility.”
The Washington native had 62 catches for 881 yards and scored 12 touchdowns in 11 games in 2025, per StatMuse.
