The Seattle Seahawks are in the Super Bowl and one win away from winning a championship. However, if the Seahawks want to lift the Lombardi Trophy, NBC Sports NFL analyst Chris Simms has issued a major warning about a key concern for the team.
In the NFC title win over the Los Angeles Rams, Jaxon Smith-Njigba recorded 10 receptions for 153 receiving yards and one touchdown. After Smith-Njigba, there was Cooper Kupp, who recorded four receptions for 36 receiving yards and one touchdown.
Moreover, Rashid Shaheed had 51 receiving yards on one reception, and Jake Bobo had one touchdown reception. Nonetheless, Simms doesn’t believe that this production behind Smith-Njigba will be enough to win the Super Bowl against the New England Patriots.
“If you ask me one weakness that I do think has to get delved into here in the next two weeks, it can’t just be Jaxon Smith‑Njigba in the pass game,” Simms said on the Jan. 26 edition of “Up & Adams.”
“There’s got to be somebody else. You’re crazy if you think Mike Vrabel, School of Bill Belichick, is going to go into the Super Bowl with two weeks of preparation in a corner like you’re talking about and Christian Gonzalez and go, ‘We’re just going to treat Jaxon Smith‑Njigba like he’s just nobody, right?’
“They have to find, and this is to me where [the Seahawks were] dropping the ball. They need to find ways to get Rashid Shaheed the ball more as a receiver. So that’s the one area I look at that they certainly can improve here in the next two weeks.”
Jaxon Smith-Njigba Was Ready to Do Everything to Reach Super Bowl
Furthermore, after the win over the Rams, the Seattle standout spoke with FOX Sports. He shared his thoughts on his performance as the Seahawks are now one win away from winning a Super Bowl.
“I told my team, ‘I’m going to do whatever it takes. Whatever you all ask for me, I’m going to get it done. Whatever that might be,'” Smith-Njigba said postgame. “And that’s what you saw today. You just saw grit, determination. You saw passion out there, and you saw a group, a collective, going out there and getting the job done.”
Moreover, Smith-Njigba wanted to thank the fans for playing their role in helping the team edge Los Angeles and head to the Super Bowl to face the Patriots.
“I want to thank the 12s,” Smith-Njigba added. “[They are the] best fans in the world. I couldn’t have done it without my guys, man. Special teams, defense, [and] offense; it had to come through Lumen. We headed to San Francisco. Let’s get it.”
Seahawks QB Sam Darnold Talks NFC Title Win
Meanwhile, along with Smith-Njigba, Sam Darnold was the other star in this contest. The veteran signal caller went 25-for-36 on his pass attempts for 346 passing yards and three touchdowns.
“It’s amazing to be able to do it with these guys in this locker room, with this coaching staff,” Darnold told FOX Sports postgame. “That’s why it means the world to me… I haven’t really thought about [his journey to the Super Bowl] much, to be honest, but I take it one day at a time. That’s it, one day at a time, every single day. Like I said, to be able to do it, it’s a special group, and I wouldn’t want to do it with anyone else.”
