The Seattle Seahawks pulled off an incredible victory over the New England Patriots on Sunday, February 8, in Super Bowl LX, with a 29-13 final score, and it was an extra special evening for Kenneth Walker III. The running back was awarded the coveted MVP award for being the most valuable player in the Super Bowl, and he summed up the team’s win in five simple words.
The Seattle Seahawks drafted Walker III in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft as the 41st overall pick on April 29, 2022, according to NFL research, out of Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan, the home of the Spartans. He’s proved one of the team’s best draft picks, and when Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald took over in 2024, he immediately know how to work with Walker III to bring the best out of him.
“We’re hard to stop when everybody’s clicking,” Walker commented after the team’s win over the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship. “The whole line doing their job, the receivers doing their job, running backs and tight ends. We’re hard to stop because we have so many weapons.”
He added of his colleague quarterback Sam Darnold, “He’s been great the whole season. We trust him. He’s a great leader and he’s a great person off the field. That’s big, and you need that to make it this far in the season.”
Seattle Seahawks’ Kenneth Walker III Has Message After Super Bowl Victory
Right after winning the Super Bowl, Walker was interviewed on the field about the experience. He was asked to sum up what it meant to him to win a Super Bowl.
“It’s a dream come true,” he said on the broadcast, adding that he’s blessed. It was a short, five-word answer, but it said everything.
But, things were about to get better for Walker. He was also awarded MVP of the game, which is an added honor on top of the win.
Walker finished the game with 135 rushing yards on 27 carries, adding 26 receiving yards on two catches. He also made history, becoming the first running back to win Super Bowl MVP since Denver’s Terrell Davis in Super Bowl XXXII after the 1997 season, according to NFL research.
Walker’s 135 rushing yards also marked the most by a player in a Super Bowl since Davis. Walker was simply crucial in helping Seattle move up the field, especially in the first half.
Seattle Seahawks Postgame Comments After Super Bowl LX Win
Seattle cornerback Devon Witherspoon gave a postgame interview about how he felt after the win. “It’s crazy. It’s a one-of-a-kind feeling,” he said on the field, confetti flowing.
Jody Allen, who has controlled the franchise since her brother passed away in 2018, called it a “magical season” during the trophy ceremony. She thanked the coach, the players and, of course, the Seattle Seahawks’ fans, called the “12s.”
“I have to thank all the 12s that are here with us, all the 12s at watch parties everywhere and all the 12s around the world,” she said on the field.
