An OC candidate for Mike Macdonald and the Seattle Seahawks will reportedly interview with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Mike Macdonald and the Seattle Seahawks lost offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak to the Las Vegas Raiders head coach opportunity. Now, the Seahawks could also lose one of their top internal choices to replace Kubiak, ironically, to their former OC.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Sunday that Seahawks quarterbacks coach Andrew Janocko is interviewing with the Raiders for their open offensive coordinator job.

Janocko is also a candidate to be the Seahawks next offensive coordinator.

Janocko was in his first season with the Seahawks during 2025. He’s served as an NFL quarterbacks coach each of the past five seasons.

Janocko coached under Kubiak in Seattle and with the New Orleans Saints during 2024.

The Seahawks losing Kubiak was expected. So, it’s not seen as a major loss although it is significant.

Macdonald’s coaching staff also losing its quarterbacks coach, though, would be a tough blow. Quarterback Sam Darnold played very well under both Kubiak and Janocko.

A Clearfield, Pennsylvania native, Janocko started his coaching career shortly after playing quarterback as a walk-on at Pitt. He served as a graduate assistant at Rutgers in 2011. Janocko then followed former Rutgers coach Greg Schiano to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to become offensive quality control coach.

Following a year stint at Mercyhurst in 2013, Janocko returned to the NFL in the same role with the Minnesota Vikings. After holding various roles in Minnesota, he finally began Vikings quarterbacks coach in 2021.

Janocko held that position with the Chicago Bears from 2022-23 before then coaching quarterbacks for the Saints in 2024 and Seahawks in 2025.

On Friday, The News Tribune’s Gregg Bell named Janocko one of four internal candidates to replace Kubiak as Seahawks offensive coordinator.

Mike Macdonald Aiming for Internal Hire at OC

Macdonald has made it no secret that he prefers internal candidates for his next OC.

That’s why Janocko interviewing with the Raiders is such a blow. It’s not exactly clear where Janocko’s candidacy stands with the team, but some might consider him the top internal choice for Seahawks OC.

Bell listed him first among the four internal choices.

“Those internal candidates are 37-year-old quarterbacks coach Andrew Janocko, passing game coordinator Jake Peetz, assistant offensive line coach and run game specialist Justin Outten and tight ends coach Mack Brown,” wrote Bell.

Bell also named a fifth candidate, but he is from outside the organization — Arizona Cardinals pass game specialist Connor Senger.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Friday that Senger was going to interview in Seattle for the OC role.

In Kubiak’s lone season as Seattle’s offensive coordinator, the Seahawks finished third in points scored and eighth in total yards. They were also second in net yards per pass attempt and 10th in rushing yards.

Darnold threw 14 interceptions, but he continued his bounce back progression this past season, which was his first in the Pacific Northwest. Darnold completed 67.7% of his passes for 4,048 passing yards with 25 touchdowns.

The Seahawks quarterback was second in the league with an 8.5 yards per pass attempt average.

Ironically, Janocko has already replaced Kubiak in his coaching career. In February 2021, the Vikings promoted Kubiak to offensive coordinator. Minnesota then also moved Janocko from wide receivers to quarterbacks coach.
