The Seattle Seahawks currently have just four selections in the 2026 NFL Draft. The organization will have to make every one of them count to fill their remaining needs this NFL offseason.
To do that, NFL.com’s Chad Reuter sees the Seahawks focusing on one particular trait — speed.
In his latest 2026 NFL mock draft, Reuter predicted Seattle to land San Diego State cornerback Chris Johnson at No. 32 overall to end the first round.
“Johnson’s speed (4.4-second 40-yard dash) and electric footwork make him a perfect fit to join Devon Witherspoon in the Seahawks’ starting lineup,” wrote Reuter.
As a senior, Johnson posted 49 combined tackles, including three for loss. He also had nine pass defenses and four interceptions, two of which he returned for touchdowns.
Behind those statistics, Johnson earned the Mountain West Conference Defensive Player of the Year award.
In the next two rounds of his NFL mock draft, Reuter slotted Notre Dame running back Jadarian Price and UConn receiver Skyler Bell to the Seahawks.
With the Huskies, Bell earned All-American honors thanks in large part to his quickness.
“Bell is an inside/outside target with adequate size and field-stretching speed,” wrote NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein. “He has the tools to beat press quickly and the acceleration/cut quickness to open clean windows.
“Bell’s speed and upside should make him a productive starter.”
Bell registered 101 receptions, 1,278 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns during 2025.
Seahawks Predicted to Land CB Chris Johnson
In 2026 NFL free agency, the Seahawks retained Josh Jobe but lost Riq Woolen to the Philadelphia Eagles. NFL mock draft analysts, though, have predicted Seattle to potentially replace Woolen with the No. 32 overall pick.
That was Reuter’s prediction. ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. rated Johnson as the No. 6 cornerback in the 2026 draft class.
NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah wasn’t as high on Johnson, ranking him his No. 40 overall prospect. But Jeremiah was still highly complimentary of the San Diego State cornerback for both his physical and mental traits.
“Johnson has excellent height, bulk and movement skills for his position,” Jeremiah wrote. “Coaches at SDSU rave about his character and toughness.”
Seattle Nabs UConn WR Skyler Bell in 3rd Round of 2026 NFL Mock Draft
The Seahawks drafting a cornerback in the first and then a running back during the second round is quickly becoming a popular mock draft narrative.
Reuter followed that formula, slotting Price to the Seahawks at No. 64 overall.
But Reuter then went slightly off the board for the Seahawks in the third with Bell. The draft analyst stuck with the same overall theme, though, — speed.
In the 40-yard dash this offseason, Bell recorded the same time (4.4) as Johnson.
“Effectiveness on slot fades and vertical routes,” Bleacher Report’s Damian Parson wrote. “With a two-way go, Bell puts defensive backs in conflict with his suddenness and foot speed at the line of scrimmage to get past them quickly.”
The Seahawks lost wideout Dareke Young in NFL free agency. But the team re-sign Rashid Shaheed and restricted free agent Jake Bobo. The Seahawks also inked Jaxon Smith-Njgiba to a long-term deal.
So receiver isn’t really a need. But with Bell, the Seahawks could land a prospect capable of stretching the field on defenses.
