After winning the Super Bowl with a dominant defensive performance, the Seattle Seahawks are entering this offseason knowing they will experience some roster turnover.
With free agency looming, several players who helped bring Seattle its second championship in franchise history are set to become free agents. Some of those players include Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker, Riq Woolen, Boye Mafe, and Rashid Shaheed, among others.
However, some free agents are more likely to sign back with the Seahawks than others, based on both the team’s needs and the market for free agents.
Most Likely to Re-Sign
When Josh Jobe came to the Seahawks in 2024, he wasn’t even guaranteed to make the Week 1 roster. Jobe, the undrafted cornerback out of Alabama, had big-game experience, having won a National Championship and played in a Super Bowl with the Eagles. However, the Seahawks were the first team to take a chance on Jobe as a starter.
Jobe is an unrestricted free agent this year, but according to former NFL QB Brock Huard on Seattle Sports’ “Brock and Salk” on Tuesday, Jobe is one of the most likely free agents to re-sign.
Seattle Sports writer Cameron Van Til wrote about Huard’s assessment of Jobe’s free agency, giving him an 85% chance of re-signing.
“I think he’s the most likely, (especially if) those two sides both recognize this is the best fit for me,” Huard said. “And once again, he’s a guy that’s been a lot of other places collegiately and professionally. He’s seen the other side and knows what he has here. They signed him last year when there was not that much of a market for him. So yeah, I think he would be the most likely.”
With Riq Woolen likely departing, keeping Jobe in the secondary will be more of a priority for the Seahawks.
Josh Jobe’s Work Ethic
The Seahawks in 2025 were a team that, from the start of OTAs, bought into Mike Macdonald’s message of working hard, being detailed, and being prepared. Josh Jobe exemplified that type of work ethic, and his head coach took notice.
Michael Shawn-Dugar of The Athletic in September wrote about Macdonald being impressed by Jobe’s Week 1 breakout game against the 49ers.
“He had a tremendous game,” Macdonald said. “He’s tough, physical. He’s played the ball well late in the down. Played a tremendous game, he really did. Deserves a lot of credit. I’m happy for him. All this guy does is work and try to pay attention to detail and prepare. Doesn’t have a lot to say for it, which is cool; that’s his personality. He’s playing really good football right now.”
Ari Horton of Seahawks.com also wrote about Jobe’s Week 1 performance, and Seahawks defensive coordinator Aden Dure spoke glowingly of how Jobe went from being a practice squad player to a starter in a year.
“That’s one of my favorite things since I’ve been here,’ Durde said of Jobe’s growth. “I actually said it to the defense last week, to see him come in and basically this time last year he was on the practice squad and to push himself and compete and be on the field I think is a credit to him as a player and him as a man.”
Jobe is a player who has had to earn everything in the NFL, and his effort could soon be rewarded financially by the Seahawks.
