Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald did not care about the team's path to the Super Bowl.

The Seattle Seahawks had to conquer NFC West division foes in the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers to reach the Super Bowl. It seemingly made the journey more meaningful for the Seahawks, but head coach Mike Macdonald dismissed this idea.

“We did not care,” Macdonald said of the Seahawks’ path to the Super Bowl during Fox’s trophy presentation. “It’s about us.

“It’s always been about us and what we do. And now we’re going to the Super Bowl.”

Something tells us Seattle “did not care” if the team faced the New England Patriots or Denver Broncos in the Super Bowl. Yet, now it is on to San Francisco where two of the NFL’s top defenses will square off for the Lombardi Trophy.

Here’s what you need to know about Super Bowl 2026 between the Seahawks and Patriots.

Seahawks QB Sam Darnold on the Old Viral ‘Seeing Ghosts’ Comment: ‘There Was a Lot That I Didn’t Know Back Then’

Seattle may have one of the NFL’s best defenses, but the team needed all of the offensive production against the Rams. After advancing to the Super Bowl, Sam Darnold was asked about the viral “seeing ghosts” comment he made as the New York Jets quarterback.

“I almost forgot about it, so thanks,” Darnold told ESPN’s Brady Henderson on January 25, 2026. “… I think for me, there was a lot that I didn’t know back then, so I’m just going to continue to learn and grow in this great game. There is a lot of stuff that I can get better from today even. I feel like I missed some throws out there that I shouldn’t miss.

“There were some things offensively that I feel like we can do better. So, we’re always looking to get better. I’m always looking to get better. That’s the great part about this game is you win an NFC championship and you win games throughout the season, but there is always ways that you can look to get better.”

Seahawks HC Mike Macdonald on Making the Super Bowl: ‘I’m Kind of Speechless’

Macdonald has tried to emphasize that the Seahawks’ focus is always about playing to their standard and not about the team’s opponent. Seattle is an early 4.5-point favorite against New England in the Super Bowl 60 matchup, per FanDuel.

After the NFC Championship win, Macdonald admitted to being “speechless” as the team punched their ticket to the Super Bowl.

“I don’t really know what to say,” Macdonald noted, per Seahawks.com’s John Boyle. “I’m incredibly proud of our team. I’m happy for the 12s, for our city. What an atmosphere. Just to be able to take it in after and understand what our team has been able to do up to this point and how they’ve done it, we’re just blessed.

“Just really blessed that we got a heck of a group and a great organization and owner and the best fans. So it’s humbling, too, and just pretty awesome. I don’t know. I’m kind of speechless. Just really proud of our guys. It was a team win.”
