The Tennessee Titans have entered the 2026 NFL offseason with an aggressive mentality. Adding talent around Cam Ward in an attempt to take a big leap next year has been a major priority.
After selecting Ward with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Titans saw signs of superstar potential during his rookie season. However, it was very clear that the offense needed more help around him.
With that being said, Tennessee wasted no team early on in NFL free agency.
According to a report from NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Titans have agreed to terms on a three-year, $24 million contract with former New York Giants tight end Daniel Bellinger.
“Sources: The Titans are signing former #Giants TE Daniel Bellinger,” Schultz wrote on X. “The move reunites him with OC Brian Daboll.”
What Does Daniel Bellinger Bring to the Titans’ Offense?
No one is going to confuse Bellinger for being a star tight end like Travis Kelce or George Kittle. He is more of a dirty work kind of tight end.
Bellinger is a great blocking tight end. He will help add more protection for Ward, while also being capable of making a play when the ball is thrown his way.
During the 2025 NFL season with the Giants, the 25-year-old former San Diego State standout caught 19 passes for 286 yards and two touchdowns in 16 games.
Since being selected by New York with the No. 112 overall pick in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, Bellinger has played all four years with the Giants. He ends his tenure in New York with totals of 88 receptions for 934 yards and four touchdowns.
Tennessee Must Continue Investing in Cam Ward
Throughout the course of his rookie season, ward ended up completing 59.8 percent of his pass attempts for 3,169 yards, 15 touchdowns, and just seven interceptions. He also picked up 159 yards and scored two touchdowns on the ground.
It has been awhile since the Titans were excited about their direction under center. Ward has given them that excitement.
While the signing of Bellinger is a nice step to provide more protection for. Ward, Tennessee can’t step there. Bringing in a top-tier pass-catcher at the wide receiver position should be next up on the offensive wish list for the Titans.
Only time will tell just how aggressive Tennessee chooses to be this offseason. Belligner isn’t a splash move. Perhaps the Titans will be able to follow up that move with an even bigger investment in their young franchise quarterback.
